Decided to check out this #HawkerCenter #CoffeeShop (which has been around way before Trump was president the first time around) mainly for the #FriedChicken which I was told is good... and it was something different from most places... Each month a handful of temples & shrines across the city hold flea/handicraft markets and antique fairs.

Of these Tō-ji's "Kōbō-san" (named after Kōbō Daishi 弘法大師 774-835) and Kitano Tenmangū's "Tenjin-san" (named after Sugawara-no-Michizane 菅原道真 845-903) are the largest.

Part antique market, part flea market, part handicraft market and part food stall paradise, Tenjin-san sprawls in and around Kitano Tenmangu.

Second hand obi and kimono...markets are the perfect place to pick up at a bargain.

Every year, the Cheese Lady (Sarah Kaufmann) sculpts cheese into a form that reflects the theme of that year's fair. This year's fair theme is ""Celebrating Basketball: The State That Grew The Game." The block of cheese is about 3 feet high and you can see a cow dunking a basketball, with the words "Drink Milk" underneath. This year, the Cheese Lady couldn't be here in person, but the sculpting goes on in the Ag/Hort building. The finished sculpture will be unveiled before the end of the fair.

The Indiana State Fair is held at the Indiana State Fairgrounds & Event Center, which has 250 acres and 20 venues. So unless you really like to walk a lot, you may need to hop a shuttle (a series of open benches pulled by a big tractor) to get around. In the past the shuttle cost up to a dollar per person per ride, but this year, the shuttles are FREE!

The first thing you will notice when you enter the fairgrounds is the wonderful smell of BBQ. There are so many colorful food stalls like these selling grilled, roasted or fried meat, often right next to the barn where the animals that supply the meat are housed.

Here is the arch that leads to the midway, where the rides such as the carousel, the Ferris wheel and other death defying rides are located. Note: do the rides first, then eat, otherwise, you will be sorry.
