I suspect that one could be considered "right" from either perspective. Yes, #Fordo and other sites were "obliterated", but I would also expect #Iran to be able to, if left undisturbed, to rebuild such capabilities in a LOT less than "decades". They could not, however, do this without showing clear signs of activity in satellite imagery etc. If they won't cooperate with nuclear watchdogs now, the USA must be willing and able to strike again. Not what I want to see, but a realistic assessment.

Since Fordo is inside a mountain, and no one has seen inside, why are you claiming high confidence that it was destroyed?

Satellite images from during and after construction show that the spots you hit were fortified with a 10m tall mound of earth. Did you just blow away the mounds of soil and little else?

I debated on Sunday whether I should bring up these shafts, given the failed use of MOPs. Four satellite images:

2009 - You can see two construction shafts while the facility is being built

2022 - As soon as 2011, these were covered, not filled in.

2025.06.22 - The day after the MOPs were dropped, Maxar's image shows the shafts were not targeted.

2025.06.24 - The shafts were targeted for destruction, though it's not obvious that they dropped bombs down the shafts

That's what the Israelis tried to do. They tried to hit two vent shafts less than 2m wide.

Why did the MOP fail?

In deflagration design of a structure that houses certain types of chemicals, to counter the explosive power that would otherwise damage the structure, you have to build blow-off panels. (Search for Factory Mutual DS 1-44, DS 7-17.)

What do you think is easier to blow off -- a built up mound of earth or an extremely thick -- say 4-5 feet thick -- concrete slab?

Mound of earth, right? And that's what happened. Path of least resistance.

There are media outlets claiming the entrances to Fordow were blown out by the MOPs. This is not true. #Iran had backfilled the entrances after evacuating them, by June 20, 2025. Three satellite images:

-- May 26, 2025 shows the shadow of the entrances and the dark color of asphalt
-- June 20, 2025 shows a light colored earthen backfill at the entrances
-- June 22, 2025 Look closely. Those are earthen berms at the entrances.
