So it's good news that scientists in China have a new method to capture ocean CO2 and turn it into a biodegradable plastic at a substantially lower cost (in energy and dollars) than current methods.

It's not that our politicians don't know what's needed to slow #ClimateChange. It's that they don't care.
Their two priorities are
1. winning the next election, under the UK's absurdly dysfunctional, archaic and undemocratic system;
2. pleasing the big donors, who include the #FossilFuel industry, the car industry, and the armaments industry.
They do not care what happens ten years ahead: five is as far as they can see.

If it’s too much for you. Write/email your elected members to tell then how sickening their support for more pollution is and that you’ll be voting Greens at the next election. If you can’t do that, at least be informed and read the article.
Not only are you paying for it all through your energy bills, you are also giving away some of your rightful share of public funds (in terms of social services) to grifters, profiteers and the filthy rich.

Not only are we not collecting a rightful amount of tax in the PRRT, we’re compelling domestic consumers to bid for domestic gas that has been allocated to future contracts with overseas on-sellers at the peril of domestic supply. We are also making it too easy for importers of our gas to do as little as possible to meet #FossilFuel reduction targets at the cost of #ClimateAction. Finally, are currently incentivising more fossilfuel #FossilFuelPropsecting and #FossiflFuelDepositDevelopment. Millions of buildings at risk from sea level rise, analysis finds
#SeaLevelRise could put more than 100 million buildings across the Global South at risk of regular #flooding if #FossilFuel Emissions are not curbed quickly, according to a new McGill-led study published in npj Urban Sustainability.
The research provides the first large-scale, building-by-building assessment of the impact of long-term sea level rise on coastal infrastructure in #Africa, Southeast #Asia and Central and South #1America. The team used detailed satellite maps and elevation data to estimate how many buildings would be inundated at various levels of sea level rise over multi-century timescales.
"Sea level rise is a slow, but unstoppable consequence of warming that is already impacting coastal populations and will continue for centuries," said Prof. Natalya Gomez, co-author of the study and Canada Research Chair in Ice Sheet–Sea Level Interactions at McGill University. "People often talk about sea level rising by tens of centimeters, or maybe a meter, but in fact it could continue to rise for many meters if we don't quickly stop burning fossil fuels."
