Ruin is not always a consequence — sometimes it’s a signal. A warning. A choice. Recklessness can be deliberate. Abandonment, a necessity. Vengeance and vision may blur in smoke, but flames illuminate as they consume. And choice becomes fuel when paired with intention.

A moment lost, a chance missed, a future never realized — the haunting refrain of hindsight echoes in every step. Steinbeck understood it well: “Of all the words of mice and men, the saddest are…

it might have been."

White ink on black background. A haunting figure drifts across the image, her face upturned to the sky in dismay. There is a long collar tied around her neck up to her face with a tassel drooping down mid skirt. She holds a sceptor in one hand extended at a diagonal, the other hand is upright and looks to be gesturing mid-incantation. The words beneath read, 'It Might Have Been'.

Feeling troubled? A bit harried? Is "too much is too much” — just too much sometimes? Or maybe you’re wildly aware that everything’s been going a little too well as of late. It’ll all come crashing down at any minute. There is only one thing for certain, and that is:

Uncertainties Await!

foxandthistle.studio/collectio

White ink on black background. A strange figure stands in a sort of a space suit shaped like a gourd, hunched and staring with dismay at something just out of frame on the ground. Arms and fingers are coiled, and there is a long tube from the head, almost like an umbilical cord tangled behind the figure. The words at the bottom read, "Uncertainties Await!"

Confidence isn't about fitting in - it's about embracing your quirks. And in the words of Bill Murray, "The more relaxed you are, the better you are at everything."

Let your freak flag fly!

Movement is often mistaken for progress. Wandering can be aimless, chaotic, revelatory—or pointless. Not every journey leads to a shining truth, and not every traveler finds what they’re looking for — regardless of how noble or charming they may appear.

White on black print of a robed soothsayer, face turned upward in a perplexed confusion. His beard is curled up to the sky, with a star stuck in the end leading the way. Flies buzz around his head like thoughts. Below are the words, "Some Who Wander Are Lost."

Flattery comes cheap. Everything else takes effort. And no one seems to be breaking a sweat. Getting through hollow adoration—or gritting your teeth through someone’s song-and-dance of self-congratulation—is bone-weary business. Even if you don’t say it aloud, this one's a nod to your secret commiserators.

'Tis Easy to Flatter, & Toilsome to Praise

* phrase is an adaptation by Jean Paul Friedrich Richter

White on black print of what appears to be an amphibious woman with a book open, who seems to be reciting or singing. She has a wide brimmed hat and a look of horror on her face and is standing in a grassy field with her only audience is a bird turning back to look at her. The words underneath read, 'Tis Easy to Flatter, and Toilsome to Praise.

Put a feather in your cap and stride on — not for applause, but for something closer to the source. After all, the tunes we play are often just echoes of the music we hear. There will always be spectators, viewing and booing, offering idle praise and feigned flattery. But why let the reception outshine the play?

The real performance is all for you.

White on black print. A well decorated gentleman mid-stride, confidently marching with a curved horn in his mouth. Another horn hangs from his belt. He has a hat on his head with a feather leading the way. A bird rest on his back seemingly watching the performance with tail feathers stretching behind. Underneath are the word "Never Play to the Gallery".

We all have to do lists - busywork, vile tasks, and grand ambitions. The eternal tomorrows. Yet... the days end one after another with little else to show but some half-hearted notes and new unimaginable distractions. After all, the only things we really need to do are pay taxes and die.

Backed into a corner? Somehow on the offense AND your heels at the same time? Sometimes there’s nowhere to run or hide. Armed and protected, the last thing one can do is muster and puff, as best you can, and proclaim:

"Thou hast added insult to injury!"

A long standing cosmic riddle, exemplified by two waltzing galaxies, hiding beyond Hydra.

A poetic graphic titled “The Penguin & the Egg” features a poem on the left and a color image from the James Webb Space Telescope on the right. The poem tells a whimsical tale of a cosmic penguin watching over a glowing egg, using imagery inspired by the interacting galaxies NGC 2936 and NGC 2937. The right side shows a bright, colorful image of the galaxies: a sweeping spiral shape (the “penguin”) arcs protectively over a glowing orb-like galaxy (the “egg”). The text below credits NASA for the image and provides the studio’s website: www.foxandthistle.studio.
