I'm a journalist, author and editor. My book Made Possible is influenced by my sister Raana (pictured!): an anthology on success, by people with learning disabilities: SUCCESS! I chair Sibs, the charity for people who've grown up with disabled brothers/sisters. It didn’t occur to me until recently that i am the mother of some deeply neurodivergent teenagers. Picking out their very particular foods, exact clothing qualifications, getting the right meds into the right kid….. it’s not “normal” and it’s not easy. The sibling experience is unique - tricky, fun and everything inbetween.

The UK charity Sibs supports siblings and the unique relationship they have with their disabled brothers or sisters. Sibs knows this role needs to be recognised.

Hello 2023.

The traditional focus on the new at this time of year isn't always ideal.

Continuity, familiarity and routine - at a gentle pace - are as valuable.

My family got back to a familiar festive routine after Covid/lockdowns forced a break..a gentle stroll along the seafront.

I couldn't write the kind of pieces in this thread without compassionate, supportive editors and - crucially - people sharing their time and stories, not easy when you're going through hell. That includes people/families who shape my reporting, but aren't always quoted.

Good morning, just a quick #introduction firstly this is my main man (my dog) saying hurry up and finish breakfast I’m lonely.
A little bit about me, I’m a carer for my husband who is unwell. I’m a mum and a grand mum. My daughter is a nurse and my granddaughter is on her way to being a nurse. My grandson has #fragilex and that’s a genetic condition and he has a disability, he lives a very happy active life and he is the most loving person I know.
I like a bit of politics, I want to help improve living conditions for those in Australia. I would love to improve our planet by saving animals and the land. I guess the best way to say it is..I will love and help whomever I can, I have no room for hate or bias against anyone, so if you discriminate against anyone for any reason I’m probably not your type of person.
My past times are knitting and crocheting, I do this for free for hospitals, maternity wards, and shelters.
I am a survivor of domestic violence and still have little insecurities about men, so please no messages or creepy call-outs.
I’m a Twitter user and I hope we can be friends ❤️
