Hey has anyone tried the framework 12's stylus? is it any good?

And now the touchpad is busted on the #Framework16.
My cat likes my #framework16 #catsofmastodon
Unidentifiable lump of cat and a #fedora powered #framework16 #catsofmastodon
I was proud owner of a #framework16 Laptop. But then something happened.

The next purchase, planned for 1st or 2nd Q26 were the new power supply with 240W and the #framework12 - Sorry, @frameworkcomputer , I'm looking for an alternative.
But maybe I have to put a sticker on my laptop... #FrameworkLaptop #framework
#Framework16 performance issues continued. It took 117 seconds to run git status on the #HardenedBSD ports tree. The screenshots show a VM with 6 vCPU and 32GB vRAM.
For the first couple hours, when the system boots cold, filesystem access is just about as instantaneous as it ought to be. But after around six hours of uptime, the brand spanking new NVMe SSD starts going sloooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooow. Practically unusable when it gets like this.
You can see in the top output that the CPU is mostly stuck in the kernel.
Something's going wrong again with my storage on the #Framework16. It took two full minutes to perform a git status on my ports tree.
Two minutes for an NVMe SSD to do git status is beyond unusable. It should (and usually does) return in less than five seconds.
This is the second brand spanking new NVMe SSD to become problematic (and/or die) in two months.
So, I guess, @frameworkcomputer will not be seeing any more money from me. I require stability in my hardware and #FrameworkComputer just cannot deliver. Unfortunate that this failure cost a few thousand US dollars--especially on our less-than-shoestring budget.

I have a VERY odd issue with #PrusaSlicer on my #Framework16: I can open it and rotate the viewport and everything, but as soon as I load a STL I can no longer navigate with my mouse or move the object around. Generally it seems the window is only very selectively updating. I have absolutely NO idea what's going on here, googling for prusa hanging yields no meaningful insight. Anybody here has a suggestion for me?
Finally got around to covering the @frameworkcomputer logo on my laptop.
They might be happy to have racists in their "big tent" but I'm not.
I'm on my 3rd #Framework16 keyboard now, the first one stopped recognizing D reliably after I spilled about half a liter of liquid on it, so I bought a replacement, that one however now also stopped registering D reliably, and in this case, no liquids were involved.Got a free replacement from @frameworkcomputer this time, thank you for that, but I'm curious:Anybody else here with a Framework 16 having issues with the D key specifically? I type a lot but I wouldn't say I'm torturing my keyboard 🤔
The brand spanking new SSD in my #Framework16 laptop is dead. Less than one week of usage.
I now suspect that something else is the problem. And now my trust in the laptop is zero. Expensive brick.
I think I'll stay with the tried and true Dell Precision line.
New 2TB NVMe SSD came in to replace the dead one in my #Framework16 laptop.
With any luck, I'll be able to use that laptop like originally planned for my #BSidesCOS presentation.
Current status: Backing up all the data from my mostly dead #Framework16 laptop. The NVMe<->USB enclosure came in.
This is why I love #ZFS:
# zfs snapshot -r tank@2025-10-18
# zfs send -vRp tank@2025-10-18 > /backups/tank.2025-10-18.zfs
A week before #BSidesCOS my #Framework16 decided to give up the ghost. It won't get past the memory checking phase. It just freezes up.
I think I’m going to have to swap the Liquid Metal for TPM on my #framework16. Not at all excited about doing that.
After a couple of days owning the Framework 16, gotta say I’m a fan. Quirks on Linux are well documented and few.
But like, the biggest thing has to be that I don’t feel any regret. Generally with big purchases I feel regret and like I should’ve chosen or tried something slightly different. But here, since I can actually change things around, I’m happy because I know nothing is fixed if I don’t like it :)
Bit the bullet and got a #Framework16, hope it’s worth it because it was not cheap 😬. But I’m tired of relying on work computers to do any coding. Hopefully it will last me a very long time.
I just managed to wake my #framework16 while it was closed by pressing on the lid where the touchpad is.
This could very well be a cause for spurious wakeups while closed.
@frameworkcomputer could it please just ..not?
I don't see a single use-case for built-in input waking the device while it's closed. Said inputs are physically enclosed in that state; they could never be activated intentionally.
