So in Saturday’s 3 hour #Octopus #OctopusEnergy #FreeElectricity session we managed 61.3 kWh peaking at almost 25kW. Only due to car not being quite empty and house battery not initially charging at full rate then getting fully charged, that we didn’t manage so more kWhs.

EDIT: Now I have Octopus' official readings, I actually got 64.759kWh, let down just by the last half hour where I only managed 8.6kWh 🙂

Cooked lunch in the oven, did an extra wash, vacuum the flat. Not much else I could do here, hope EV owners have done their bit with #Octopus #FreeElectricity!

Wee bitty disappointed with my 1 hour #FreeElectricity session today. Only managed a (failed) store cupboard bake, a small wash load, & a run of the dishwasher to clean the accoutrements from my bin bake. Still appreciate #OctopusEnergy for the chance of some free leccy though

My work on automations in #HomeAssistant for #octopusenergy #freeelectricity on flux are paying off.
One hour before, discharge the battery, then charge the battery and heat the hot water via immersion for free, then sell the battery back at 4pm when its peak. The octopus integration gives me the event details so all driven off an automatically created calendar entry without manual intervention. Makes us a few pounds each time we have an event.

#OctopusEnergy FTW. Today's #FreeElectricity session I:
~ Did the ironing (with something low engagement on the TV),
~put a load of bedding through the washing machine,
~ ran the dishwasher,
~ batch roasted some potatoes & sweet potatoes,
~ took a bash at making some biscuits to use up some of the store cupboard ingredients I have lying around

That was a decent load test of the house electrics, going in to winter. Passed no problems.

Extra bonus: notified there's 1 hour session tomorrow!

Another #FreeElectricity session from #OctopusEnergy tomorrow, Saturday 4th October.

This time a 2-hour session, rather than the normal 1-hour.

I'll defer a few things I'd normally do overnight, such as DHW and top-up on solar batteries, and shift them into this free slot.

Plus some clothes washing and/or drying.

And I'll plug in the #EV, which even if it doesn't charge #OctopusEnergy will still give me a 7kW credit per hour.

There's plenty of renewables tomorrow, especially as Storm Amy will be hitting the north of the UK. Even where I am, down on the south coast, it's expected to be windy with gusts up to 51mph at its peak.

Hopefully the storm isn't too bad and there's no major issues or disruptions for those areas likely to be hit the hardest. All well and good getting free electricity, but also need to be sure people are safe.

Another #FreeElectricity session for #Octopus customers in the UK today, from 14:00 to 15:00

Extra good news is that there is a double session tomorrow, so 2 hours #FreeElectricity from 12:00 to 14:00 on Sunday 7th.

Will plug in the EV and see if #IOG charges it or not, plus load shift a few things around to make use of these sessions.

So long as it's useful energy use, and not wasted, then it's all good. Will move cooking lunch, use the tumble dryer, plus maybe some solar battery forced charge from the grid if I've any spare capacity.

I won't be doing things like #ASHP DHW tank heating because that may be wasting electricity, as water will likely still need to be heated overnight as usual in the schedule.

So conscientious use of the free electricity, above my normal usage for those hours, is the name of the game.
