Our Freedom of Information laws in BC are a joke.
I made an FOI request for emails and documents relating to the E&N railway in spring 2023.
I just received another request for a 30 day extension... now to April, 2025.
I fully expect this will drag on past 2 years. This time, instead of just saying yes to the extension I asked a pointed question:
"I want to emphasize that this request is nearing its 2 year anniversary.
The interminable requests for 30 day extensions make a mockery of the spirit and intent of the legislated deadlines for FOI responses.
What is the likelihood that this request will be further delayed past a new April 3, 2025 due date?”
We'll see if that generates anything…
