Two infamous Supreme Court judges of the Islamic Republic, known for their roles in executions, torture, and the imprisonment of thousands of Iranians, were fatally gunned down on Saturday in Tehran.
Mohammad Moghiseh and Ali Razini, both notorious for their bloodstained records, played pivotal roles in the regime’s crackdown on dissent since the 1979 Islamic Revolution.
Ali Razini, 71, was among Iran’s most senior judges and had previously survived an assassination attempt in 1998. He was a member of the Tehran Death Commission, which authorized the mass execution of thousands of dissidents during the 1980s. Razini also upheld the death sentence of #MohammedGhobadlou, a detainee of the #WomanLifeFreedom Revolutionary Uprising.
Mohammad Moghiseh, 68, faced sanctions from the EU, the US, and Canada for alleged human rights violations. He frequently abused his judicial authority to suppress basic rights, including freedom of religion, expression, information, assembly, and the press, as well as the right to legal counsel.
Today, numerous Iranians have come forward with testimonies about the abuse and imprisonment they endured at the hands of Moghiseh and Razini.
