Just tried to install #Friendica on my webserver following step by step the instructions on

https://friendi.ca/resources/installation/

but the install script just won't even start.

Followed all tips given to people with similar problems (infinite redirects), but alas, to no avail.

I found it rather disheartening to see that various people with issues get dismissed on the github with "Don't complain, become a dev instead!".

Kind people, indeed.

Might try again another day. For today, I had enough.

If you've been following my toots for a while, you know how incredibly grateful I am to @yunohost for empowering me to self-host my own fedi instances.

Six months ago I knew nothing about self-hosting. Now, thanks to #YunoHost and the superb tools they offer (for free!), I am running my own #GoToSocial, #Friendica, #Pixelfed and #PeerTube instances. Vielleicht ist #Friendica eher das passende. Ist die Facebook-Alternative im Fediverse. Dort soll es auch Gruppen geben. Habe ich aber nie ausprobiert und es wäre dann auch nicht mehr Mastodon.

Gedanken, die mir die ganzen Tage schon im Kopf rumschwirrten - dafür blogge ich, aber das ist sicherlich besser aufgehoben in einem weiteren Artikel. :wink:

Das alles auf "einer" Instanz zu finden, halte ich für fast ausgeschlossen. Wobei, bei um die 30.000 Instanzen wäre das durchaus möglich, ich kenen ja nicht alle 😉 Und, von den 30.000 Instanzen sind nur die max die Hälfte, die Mastodon als Software verwenden.

The #Friendica Docker container image just refuses to work for me. I can not seem to complete the installation process. It always redirects to a blank page after step 4. Anyone else experience this?

Actually I'm answering this now from my #friendica account from a #debian desktop (till now #firefox, although this has to change without any doubt as #mozilla has sold out time ago ..).

We didn't plan such developments.

That's a real pity.
As someone who is for more than a decade now in #theFedi, nearly a decade and a half, having always several accounts depending on the matter, as well as for the simple means of testing and understanding federation, the option alone to be able to decide from which account to respond, like, fav or reshare a post by your #APP is really helpful. And actually looking at the fact that the #browser world is getting ever more abusive and privacy invasive, a #GNUlinux #FOSS stand alone desktop application that has the features #fediLab offers would be a great thing for the #fediVerse.
