During May we celebrated Fun and Games. Few were more influential on the origins of fun and games in early years education than German pedagogue Friedrich Froebel (1782 – 1852). To talk us through Froebel’s impact, particularly as applied to the development and use of his ideas in nineteenth century education, is Kornelia Kepok, archivist at the University of Roehampton Archives.
I’ve uploaded an old booklet I bought it in the 1980s for 25 pence, ‘Paper-Folding for Schools’, published By Charles And Son Ltd, at https://archive.org/details/paper-folding-for-schools-published-by-charles-and-son-ltd.
Without mentioning it, the contents draw on the Froebel kindergarten tradition of paperfolding, but the folding of circular paper is an unusual addition.

The booklet has no date, no author(s) and no table of contents. This could be the second, or more likely, the fifth edition (1929) of ‘Paper Folding for Schools’ by M Hopkins, including a series of lessons on paper-folding from the circle, by Lilian Elliott.

Jesús nació en un pesebre “porque no había sitio en la posada” un ángel anunció su nacimiento a unos pastores, quienes fueron los primeros en ir hasta el pesebre a adorarlo.
Los Evangelios no precisan la fecha en la que nació Jesús ni dan indicios al respecto. La primera mención del 25 de diciembre como día del nacimiento de Jesús se encuentra en un texto del helenista y apologista Sexto Julio Africano, del año 221.

I was a teacher in a Children's Centre preschool class until this summer, and now I'm a Master's student at #CREC in Birmingham. Still really interested in #EarlyYears pedagogy and things like #Froebel, #OutdoorLearning, and doing #Art with young children. I love #tinkering with old pieces of technology or mechanical equipment, and scaffolding using tools with children. Also very cynical but invested in #Leftie politics and holding out hope for something better than the current situation.
