It was a mistake
taking the Crosstown Express
which was anything but
as many other vehicles
were lured in
to the foolish illusion
that the traffic demons
can somehow be beaten

It was a mistake
to elect such a thin skinned
overly sensitive narcissist
who lacks the self discipline
and emotional maturity
not to #stoop to vulgarity
responding to moronic hecklers

This petty little man
is a national embarrassment

It was a mistake
compounded daily
as our nightmares stacked high
piercing the indifferent sky
all the way
to the dark void
of the vast expanse of space

We woke to snow
which was mighty bizarre
considering it was July
in the midst of a heat wave

Meteorologists debated
if the out of place flakes
were artificially created
or if this was just
another nonsensical
reality denying #poem
crafted to fit
a poetic climate prompt

We woke to snow
that painted our landscape
formerly gray
the color of pristine white
though we all knew
when the thermal winds blew
this precarious illusion
would invariably melt
to liberate the insidious slush
of our former grim reality

We woke to snow
of depth undetermined
and duration a mystery
since power was out
leaving communications dubious and in doubt

This #spooked the populace
who struggle with uncertainty
that storms bring

Fear ain't always a bad thing
when it breaks up
the Winter's monotony
so cold and relentless

This would be the line
they forewarned us about
that we dare not cross

Those warning bells
we paid no mind to
would be the last sound we hear
before meeting Consequence
prior to the crash
that would smash
careless
oblivious us

This would be the line
I will not let you cross
The art of logic's war
I have no use for

No lengthy interaction
I will have with you
Can ever change that
I have learnt my lesson

When there were clouds
solar warmth decreased
the winds turned blustery
and insulation became
a practical necessity

Those wrapped in denial
kept to the old temperate ways
and fought the new reality
that was unrelenting
in its march toward frigid finality

When there were clouds
the sun was bummed
like all divas would be
when denied
their legions of worshipers

All parties
of this symbiotic relationship
#regret unwelcome obstructions
but does not absence
make the heart grow fonder
if not paler?

When there were clouds
the pessimists did abound
with their insipid insipient
gloom and doom pronouncements

These glass is half empty
negative purveyors
of sour disposition
really irritate me

Maybe because deep down
the bitter ass
I struggle to suppress
is as toxic as they

When there were clouds
the group mood darkened
cause we collectively lacked
team morale toughness
and the sensory wherewithal
to be properly adaptive
when faced with solar deprivation

When there were clouds
the rains were sure to follow

This was fine
with umbrella vendors
seeking much needed demand
of saturated
puddle hopping pedestrians
seeking environmental protection
from the fickle elements

When there were clouds
beach attendance was down
as merchants frowned

She who sells sea shells
by the sea shore
was especially somber
since Summer is so seasonal
and she was short the cash
to survive such a sorry
shortfall circumstance

When there were clouds
we thought nothing of it
since these solar obstructions
always moved on in the past

Now that we've achieved stagnation
the sun is on permanent vacation

Not that this glare free existence
is any #consolation
that Ice Age Two
is our new residence

When there were clouds under a setting sun, they'd involuntarily take on a ruby tone. Rain fell into an open hand like hallowed blood, as if the heavens had the wherewithal to offer faith. But soliloquy is not the same as consolation.

Clouds

When we were clouds meandering the sky, a lightning bolt taught us the art of disappearing. Listing into opposing directions, our lagging behind could not prevent the rift. But fire, though a peculiar gift wrap, cleanses before destruction, until nothing artificial remains. Now, rain is my consolation, until the mountain between us is washed down to its last iota. No more echoes will soliloquy. What will be left, is an new old-fashioned way of presence. One, that has been ours from the beginning of time.

When there were clouds
the mood turned somber gray

Life does have a way
of rolling unscripted
and unsupervised

For it seems
the Grand Director
once so invested
has lost all interest
in his flawed creation
now destined
to fly off the tracks
into the abyss of oblivion

We should have stopped
when the light turned red

That's what the officer said

I went with the ignorance defense
in broken English
pleading where I come from
the stop lights glow
a #magenta hue

The cop laughed so hard
he actually let me go

True story

We should have stopped
and heeded the foreboding
#augury prophesies
of the ancient sages

Not to mention
the skulls and bones
that littered the way
were a telling indication
that doom awaited
those foolish enough to traverse
this hazardous path
we could have easily bypassed
if we weren't so damn arrogant
