Ft Bragg Sunset

Ft. Bragg is a wonderful Northern California seaside town that has been through many changes over the last century.
Lumber and fishing have been the main industry in this small town for many years. The lumber industry mostly died by the mid 1900's and the Salmon fishing has dropped off due to the fish population. It still has a small town charm and worth a visit.

Ft Bragg Sunset

This is an image captured on the north coast of California in Ft Bragg.
The left side of the image is a rock formation on the edge of the beach where it meets the Pacific Ocean. The foreground of the image is the edge of the beach where it meets the sea. There are large rocks and boulders scattered generously throughout.
The waves are breaking offshore and crashing on the rocks that stick up out of the water.
The sky is clear of clouds and is a brilliant orange color that gradually turns to yellow the closer you look towards the sun.

This raven has something to say. I obviously don't understand, so he slows it down for me at the end...

Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor B and W II

I'm not sure why, but old wooden boats fascinate me. I look forward to the future decay of this one as it slowly gives itself back to the earth.
Back when I first saw this boat I saw activity. There was a man walking the deck, I'm guessing that he was preparing for a fishing trip. Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor B&W

This is a black and white image of an old fishing boat that sank in Noyo Harbor during a winter storm off the California North Coast.
I chase B & W for this image to highlight the textures from this old boat.
The bow and the dise of the boat shows us that there are planks missing from the boat. Where there is wood it is heavily weather damaged and the paint is pealing off of the wood.
The boast is listing to one side and appears to be leaning against the pilings on the old dock that it was once tied to.
Beahind the boat is the water of Noyo Harbor.

.I originaly captured this boat while it was still afloat in the harbor. Apperently she sunk during a very strong winter storm. Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor B and W II

This is an image of an old fishing boat that sat tied to the docks for years. Finally during a strong North Coast winter storm the hull failed and the boat sank in Noyo Harbor.
The paint, where there is some, is peeling off. Planks are missing from the bow, and barnacles are growing on the side of the boat. They must attach themselves when the tide is high.

Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor In Black And White

This is an image of a boat that sunk during a strong winter storm on California's North Coast.
This was captured during high tide so most of the hull is under water leaving mostly just the cabin exposed.
The cabin is missing a couple of doors and the finish is weathered with paint peeling off of the wood.
An old warehouse sits behind the boat on the docks. The building is weathered as well and reflects the decay seen on the boat.

Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor II
Also the subject of my image, "Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor" but taken from a different location.
You can see a more detailed look at the weathered old boat and all of the damage. Missing planks, missing windows, moss, and barnicles all combine to make this the perfect subject. Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor II

This is the same boat as my image, "Sunken Boat In NoyoHarbor", taken from a different angle and location.
This boat is located in Noyo Harbor in Ft. Bragg, California.
This is a more detailed closeup of the boat. You can see the missing planks from the hull up near the bow. The wood that is remaining is weathered, rotted, and covered in a green moss. Further back you can see barnacles up near the rail as this was captured at low tide.
The cabin is missing most of the windows and the lower door. The paint is pealing off of the cabin. The stern is completely submerged.

Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor

The first time that I shot this boat was back in 2012.
This image captures an old fishing boat sitting at the docks.
In 2017 this boat was a casualty of the heavy rainstorms we had in Northern California.
I was hoping to recapture this boat to see what had changed since my last visit. It seems to have taken on a new life now. See the full image here: fineartamerica.com/featured/su #SunkenBoatInNoyoHarbor #BillGallagherPhotography #BuyIntoArt #AYearForArt #FtBragg #sunkboat

Sunken Boat In Noyo Harbor

THis is an image of a sunken boat in the Noyo River at Noyo Harbor in Ft. Bragg, California.
Captured from across the river. This old steamer sunk during a heavy winter rainstorm that hit the north coast of California. The pieces of the boat that are still above the water are extremely weathered and in some cases covered in moss. To the rear of the boat you can see the old smokestack. The bow of the boat has a few large planks missing in the hull.
The boat was tied to the docks when it sank. IT still sets next to the docks.
The docks behind the boat don't look much better than the boat itself. That includes the building behind the boat.

Worlds End

I found this rowing club near the end of North Harbor Drive in Noyo Harbor.
This image captures the door that open up to the river. It somewhat reflects how I feel about the world today with a lone boat out on a desolate sea. I would have loved to have the opportunity to take a tour just to see what was in this old rusty building. Worlds End

Captured in Noyo Harbor, Ft. Bragg, California.
This image is of a rusted, corrugated steel, sliding door that opens to an old boat barn that belongs to the Worlds End Rowing Club.
The center of the image shows a wooden row boat with two oars hanging off of the side. The view of the boat is straight on.
Above the boat are the words, "Worlds End" and below the boat are the words, "Rowing Club:.
