GGGW was fun! It felt a little smaller than previous years, but still a lot of hounds! I met my first Irish Woflound. Leeloo met a dog bigger than her.

We didn’t stay for the full event. I think Leeloo was having some leg cramps, but refused to settle down somewhere.

She’s passed out now.

68 long boys and lengthy girls made it to our effort for the Great Global Greyhound Walk in Nonsuch Park yesterday! Included in that number were 6 kennel hounds still waiting to find their forever homes. We collected £612.46 in donations, all of which will go towards caring for the hounds in WGW's care. Thanks everyone!

During the #GGGW walk, a man pointed at my Rich Skipworth “Greyhound Fan Club” shirt and said “Hey I have that on my hat!”

Me: “Oh, you’re a fan of Rich Skipworth as well?”

Him: “Huh?”

Me: “Yeah, Rich Skipworth, the artist.”

Him: “Oh, I got this on Ali Express.”

Me: “Oh…I prefer the artist to actually get paid.”

Moment of silence. Him, visibly offended: “But you can’t beat $2.50!”

Rich Skipworth’s merch isn’t expensive, and he has frequent sales…

It’s GGGW day. 7:45 AM now and the temp is 81F, so it’s going to be a hot day. Humidity is 65% so cooling vest for the long dog may not be terribly effective (their effectiveness is almost completely nullified above about 60%).

I’ll still take a cooling vest with me and monitor the humidity. Also take plenty of water.

Because I stopped using Twitter and I’ve significantly cut my use of Instagram, I miss all the social posts from Greyhound Adoption League of Texas. I’m not sure why, but they’re not advertising their Great Global Greyhound Walk event anywhere outside of one of their multiple social accounts. So I missed the event info. Finding the info was also tough because it wasn’t one of their main accounts.

I hope everything is okay over there.

To celebrate the Great Global Greyhound Walk next Sunday, the Surrey Sighthound Walking Group is running a group walk in Nonsuch Park, SM3 8AJ. If you're in/near South West London please feel free to come along, with or without sighthounds, or borrow a kennel hound from Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare in Hersham, Surrey!
We'll meet at 10am and have a ~90min walk. Park in one of the two car parks near Cheam Gate.
