I could manage to use the #Gotek on my #Amiga 500. With the External Floppy Interface it has to be configured as for the IBM-PC. I recently received some bright green filament and I 3D-printed an enclosure for it. I like the result even if it is slightly bigger than what needed. I have to print some TPU feet for it. It looks good on top of my computer 😍 #retrocomputing #3dprinting

As basically an Amiga newbie, I'm having some difficulty connecting a #Gotek SFRKC30.AT4.35 to my #Amiga 500 using an External Floppy Interface (EFI). I used the latter for a while with an ordinary PC disk drive and it worked fine, but now I cannot configure it and the Gotek to read something. Firmware version is FlashFloppy 3.42. The best I can obtain is a disk I cannot open on Werkbench. #Retrocomputing #AmigaNewbie

I have a nice adapter PCB (Amstrad FDD <-> PC FDD) so I can probably spare me the chore to build a custom cable (https://www.ebay.de/itm/124223193696?srsltid=AfmBOop8Q-j219ULqPJJorXaMOicFGklDthQUFD22avB8X8V3ik8T-4v) but I guess I'll be using a #Gotek drive instead. Let's face it: floppies are dead.

Versuche gerade meinen #CPC664 mit einem #Gotek #Floppy #Emulator auszustatten. Habe die letzten paar Tage deshalb fleißig #FreeCAD genutzt und eine Halterung entworfen. Jetzt muss nur noch der Deckel passen und die Tastaturfolie funktionieren (da gehen derzeit wieder einige Tasten nicht 😬. #Amstrad #Schneider

J'ai rebranché ma carte Flex 6809 sur un vrai lecteur de disquettes, et au préalable j'ai créé avec la carte #GreaseWeazle une disquette à partir d'un fichier image (le même que j'utilisais précédemment avec le lecteur #gotek , c'est tout le but de l'exercice !).
Et j'avais créé cette image disque avec un petit outil maison permettant de manipuler fichiers et disquettes au format Flex.

Niveau configuration cela donne quelque chose comme ça : à gauche le fichier IMG.CFG à déposer sur la clé USB du #Gotek , et à droite le fichier spécifiant le format pour la #greaseweazel , à utiliser dans la commande de lecture de disquette.
Le fichier image en lui même contient juste le contenu de tous les secteurs à la suite sans aucune métadonnée.

Un éditeur de texte avec 2 fichiers côte à côte comme décrit dans le toot

J'ai dumpé la disquette de boot de mon système Flex #mc6809 avec la carte #greaseweazel , et j'ai pu lancer le système avec un lecteur #gotek contenant cette image.
Le truc sympa est que la GreaseWeazel comme le Gotek permettent de définir un format de disquette non standard (avec une syntaxe proche en plus), en l'occurrence une disquette double face simple densité (FM) avec 10 secteurs de 256 octets par face.
Ça va être pratique pour gérer le format Flex double densité où le format est encore moins standard (piste 0: 10 secteurs FM, pistes 1 et suivante : 18 secteurs MFM).

@rc2014 IIRC, I had to make one a while ago to flash the #FlashFloppy firmware on the #Gotek floppy emulator, so they may not be totally useless and still very much #retrocomputing related 😉
Now, 75 of them...
