All these hoops are basically obsolete with #gamescope nowadays, because this micro compositor allows to configure any virtual display size that games get to see - and handles upscaling on top.

If I run is under GE-Proton (Latest) I can get #AFKJourney to this point. The download starts, but then I get "winserver crashed" in the logs.
But "ulimit -c unlimited" only works per session in the terminal so lutris crashes don't appear to be going in there.

Random, not-LOTRO, not-FFXIV question. I was trying to reinstall #AFKJourney through @lutris.
It initially installs, but then updates the launcher (twice), hitting version 2.5. But when it tries to update to launcher version 2.6 it fails completely.
I don't know enough about #Lutris scripts to make sure it gets the latest launcher from the get-go.
Anyone in the #GamingOnLinux community have any ideas?

The author makes a really good point here. I always felt that spending time learning the Nix language would be a complete waste of time (for me), which is why I never ventured into using it (although I do use the Lix package manager based on Nix, which is fantastic).
Meanwhile, I learnt a ton of transferable skills when I forked Bazzite and customised the Containerfile, as well by simply _using_ Bazzite for everyday/productivity stuff, since you end up making heavy use of containers. All of this directly helped me at work, as I used the same concepts to get rid of some of our traditional VMs and switch to OCI containers and related tooling. And the fact that we use Red Hat at work also helped, since the uBlue project uses Fedora. So yeah, both what I've been doing at work and home, have been benefiting each other, which is awesome.
And this is all thanks to me wanting to build the perfect gaming+productivity machine... once again, I find my gaming ventures leading to career growth—just like the time I accidentally learnt MS-DOS (which got me started on my IT career path), because I wanted to play Prince of Persia and Dangerous Dave on my cousin's 286 while he wasn't around.

I want to install Linux on my Gaming PC, and like always I'm stunned with the choice of distro.
Ubuntu? openSUSE? Debian? pop_OS? SteamOS?
I'm not looking for a Desktop to work on, I just want something my wife and kids can play The Sims 4 on. SteamOS seems like a cool thing, but it's not fully Open Source.
The service I've built for provisioning cloud servers on ACC ( an awesome sim racing title that works well on Steam with Proton + Linux) is slowly becoming something that, I think, is increasingly rare and special in the software world: a spartan designed, multi page, plain-old, no frills web app. But still, it is so hard to promote it and get others to believe in the vision.
