I needed to take a break from the doom and gloom, so I eyed spots in the yard for more wildflowers, a mini food forest, and a spot for three sisters (and sunflowers). I had good luck growing some beans in hanging planters (where the vines can climb), so I'll be doing that again, as well as growing greens, onions, sun gold tomatoes and red potatoes in containers. Attempting beets again, but the local critters like them a little too much.

#Gardening bubble, I need some tips. I'm thinking about creating a #wildflower #meadow with native plants in this part of the garden. Can I have some suggestions on what to prepare before sowing? Do I need to dig up the whole area? cover the area with fresh earth or #compost?

It's a pretty dark area: eastern side of the house, under a large gingko tree. The roots are close to the surface, so breaking up the whole soil will not be easy.

I've made a bit of progress on my new rock path from the driveway to my house. I'm still only a quarter done, but at least it's happening.

These rocks are quite large so they're a real pain to shovel, but they're the rocks I have left over from the driveway project, so I'm using them.

I load them into a wheelbarrow and dump each cartload at the end of the path. The path is wide enough, flat enough, and straight enough for the wheelbarrow to get through.

It looks lovely and I'm looking forward to putting plants on both sides, but holy smokes it's very hard and my body hurts and it doesn't want to do anymore. Too bad I'm only about a quarter done. It's ok, one step at a time. I'm glad I'm doing this.
