Today #GeologyWithCats. We found during #hedgewatch many #quartz veins at the #Rosstrape. They formed when #silica rich fluids circulated in #fractures that formed during cooling of the Ramberg #pluton & are now remnants of a #geothermal system.

Today #GeologyWithCats! We found this #drillcore it's a #sandstone. The white layers had large pores with #water in it. When #sediment was accumulated the pressure was growing & finally the water was squeezed out upwards-its a water escape structure.

Today is #VolcanoThursday 😻 During #hedgewatch on #Tenerife I found this #lava piece with bubbles. #Magma contains gas & when it travels to the surface it cools down & pressure drops so the gas is released & makes bubbles.

Today is the 1st #VolcanoThursday of 2025. This is the #Orotava #valley on #Tenerife formed by a gigantic #landslide. The island was growing so fast that its flanks became unstable & collapsed. At least 500 km3 #rock's moved down causing a #tsunami

Today its #quartz, one of my favourit #minerals vs #Rhodochrosite at #MinCup24. I vote for quartz because it can change quickly between its alpha and beta modifications. Its almost as quick as a #Cat. My humans like quartz #mineral because they can remember the formula😹🙀
Today I found a Glückssteindepot-a lucky rock depot-during my #hedgewatch close to the #AletschGlacier/#AletschGletscher. A place where you can deposit small rocks and in return you get lucky. I have put some #rocks in for my friends 🐾😻
