4. As a #Georgist, it pains me to say this, but I didn't create the problem—the best #investment you can make is buying #land. Not "real estate", per se, but *land*. They aren't making any more of it. The wealthy do not want you to understand how land in the basis of everything in our economy. There are ways to subvert land speculation by owning it.

The imperialist, by taking them without appropriating a liability to the community to which they belong, denies people's equal claim to them. Under #capitalism, the employer appropriates the positive and negative fruits of the workers' labor leading to a denial of the norm on which property is supposed to rest namely getting the positive and negative fruits of your labor

LRT: #Philadelphia. Very possibly, when everything is weighed in the balance, the best major city in the US, one of the most important places to be a voter, right now, in 2024. #Pennsylvania is a swing state that has been very narrowly decided in the last several Presidential elections.

#Philly is the closest thing in the US to a #Georgist #libertarian major city, fitting for the birthplace of American #liberty. It's the the most #affordable of all major US cities, and right between NYC and DC.

2. Common ownership of land and natural resources: #LandValueTax, #Georgism #Georgist, and carbon/pollution taxes.
3. UBI funded from revenue from the prior
4. Social ownership of the means of production through Harberger leases.
5. A variant of quadratic funding for campaign finance reform, and funding public goods

@captainrob @scottsantens Taxing 100% of land value and using it to fund the UBI would fix this. #LVT cannot be passed on to tenants due to land's inelastic supply. This policy essentially makes land collectively-owned, so moves us in a #postcapitalist direction.

✡️ Today's Jew of the Day is Emma Lazarus!

Emma Lazarus was a poet and activist for Jewish and Georgist causes. Her most famous work is "The New Colossus". A quote from the The New Colossus is inscribed on a plaque near the Statue of Liberty.

Lazarus believed in equality and the single tax movement. She also worked to assist Jews fleeing pogroms in Eastern Europe, despite the fact that she herself came from a wealthy family of Sephardi Jews who had come to New York City (then New Amsterdam) in the Jewish arrival in New Amsterdam in 1654. She helped found the Hebrew Technical Institute and the Society for the Improvement and Colonization of East European Jews.

Her poems and positions appeared in many newspapers and publications of the time.

Many historians credit Lazarus for shaping the self-identity of the United States.

I know a lot of young people think it's fashionable to be a "socialist" or "communist", but as a #Georgist 🔰 , my politics are vehemently anti-socialist and anti-communist.

#Socialism and #Communism are #authoritarian right-wing feudalist ideologies. They are not "left" in any sense of the word.

The only difference between Socialism and #Feudalism is the name given to the ruling class and the justification they use when they appropriate your labor product by force.
