@richrollgardener @gardening I tried growing Trillium grandiflorum from rhizomes but did not have success, with the plants surviving no more than about two or three years and flowering only in the first or second year. The plants were in shade, but perhaps they needed a little more sun, or the soil conditions were too dry. I also planted three Geranium maculatum plants in the same general location. One of the three plants survived and has thrived, which encouraged me this year to try two more rhizomes. I did thin some vegetation to let a little more sun in, so I do not know whether that helped the Geranium maculatum, but hopefully the two newly planted Geranium maculatum rhizomes will create the woodland garden I had hoped for with the Trillium.

Thursday 13 May, 2021 – Pryde's Point-Alexauken Creek Trail
Bhavana and I went for a hike in the Pryde’s Point-Alexauken Creek trail. We first walked this trail in 2020 starting at the trailhead on Rocktown Lambertville Road in Lambertville. Today we approached the other trail head-on Gulick Road in Ringoes. Part of the trail is on a road leading up to a residential area before cutting through a grassy meadow along a tree line. I looked at my calendar this morning and felt a pang of anxiety and dread. There is little to no room for thoughtful introspection and critical thinking. It's all go-go-go. I planted the roots of this Geranium maculatum several years ago, along with roots for two others. This plant was the sole survivor, and it had never flowered, until now.
