Democratic leaders need to start holding themselves accountable – by retiring when their time has come and making space for a new generation that can put fresh energy behind the party’s brand. Given Pennsylvania Democratic Senator John Fetterman’s deteriorating state, a competitive primary might be the only way to avoid a redux of Biden’s path ahead of the 2028 Senate campaign.
