In case you are into guitar pedals you probably know: This particular model got quite a bit of YouTube hype through a video by JHS Pedals and the prices went up to hilarious amounts a year ago or so. It’s nothing special really, just a nice Tube Screamer variant. Prices are a bit more relaxed again these days. Was visiting a friend tonight and he wanted to show me some stuff he picked up recently. I noticed an Amiga 3000 sitting on the shelf although that wasn't what he wanted to show me... but I interrupted him and said that we needed to open the Amiga up before we looked at anything else. Good thing, too. The battery had started to leak but I'm pretty sure we got to it in time. I didn't even take time to snap a 'before' picture, I just grabbed the clippers and removed that thing.

I felt like I should check on my Fluke 1587 Insulation Tester and found that while the batteries worked fine, they were a little wet.
Time to toss them and clean some terminals, I guess.
Caught it in time, I hope.

I would like to contribute to the #getthedamnbatteriesout movement.

The damage here is relatively moderate (but at least one of the two devices is still damaged beyond operation). Sometimes it's NOT.

Six NiCd C-size cells mounted through an old circuit board by solder tabs. There are some greenish solder joints nearby, and one of the batteries has visible swelling and failure at one end.

An alkaline 9V battery plugged into an old, grungy-looking circuit board with visible corrosion on a row of solder joints at the left end, and some dubious-looking joints elsewhere.

I was looking through my handhelds for a game I'm missing, and noticed my PSP's back was partially off.

Sure enough, the battery was bulging and it's worse than it looks.

An Amiga 500 RAM Expansion with some corrosion on the PCB, a leaked Varta rechargeable battery that got removed from it and a pair of side cutters. All sitting on my workbench.

@jonn_blanchard Maybe it's just the lighting, but did the battery leak at all? It kind of looks like there is a bit of blue/green on the solder mask near it.
