#Gethomebag

Hey #Seattle #PNW you got your devices all charged up?

#WAWX looks to be a little crazy tonight with lightning and wind.

"My God. Looks like Oklahoma." are not words I'm very comfortable hearing from a local weather guy.

Anyway. What's your top 3 items you double check when there's a big storm headed your way?

"Finally, let me shown you the situation at 2:30 PM. The latest weather radar shows intense thunderstorms moving northward over the southern Willamette Valley. My god...this looks like Oklahoma."

Avoid taking ephedrine and pseudoephedrine together, as they can create cardiovascular problems. Also avoid taking either of them with caffeine, for the same reason.

Speaking of, this reminds me that I should caffeine tablets to my #GetHomeBag #MedKit. I rarely use caffeine tablets, only a few times in my life, actually, because of the side effects, but if it's the difference between staying alive and not, I'll risk the side effects.

The military uses worse, like modafinil (ProVigil).

This #EDC #FirstAidKit covers common minor ailments, minor cuts and scrapes, only. It is not intended to be a combat medical kit.

A more comprehensive #MedKit is for my #GetHomeBag, which is also my briefcase and can hold my laptop computer and other work items, not my #EDC handbag.

In the bigger kit, I carry things like larger wound dressings and supportive bandages, (especially because I personally have a bad knee). That's also where I carry additional #PPE items.

Things I've carried in my #GetHomeBag since 9/11 include N95 masks (yes, over 22 years, I'm a New Yorker) and safety glasses (clear and tinted). If you, like me, need reading glasses, then always keep cheap backup pairs all over the place.

I don't #EDC a #multitool, because my plan does not involve stopping to fix things along the way. My tiny SAK is more than enough.

Don't waste money and sentiment or pride on pricey gear. Be prepared to leave your gear behind without regret, if you must.

I also carry a small first aid kit, enough to handle small cuts and scrapes, no more than that.

Other things I may carry are more situational. Self-defensive items may not be permitted everywhere, so they aren't part of my "basic kit".

Your #EDC kit only needs to sustain you until you can get to a larger, less portable kit. That's your #GetHomeBag (which doesn't necessarily need to be a "bag", per se. It might be a cooler or lockbox in your vehicle, or under your desk at the office).

A big mistake people make with #EDC gear is carrying items that have no immediate use.

You cannot & should not carry gear that has no application to your specific #survival plans. #GetHomeBag

I see lots of people carrying a heavy #multitool, because they think, "What if I need to fix some random thing along the way, when the #SHTF?"

Don't carry it, unless you are also carrying some other piece of gear that multitool might be needed to fix within the timeframe.

#bag recommendations for #edc that aren't massive backpacks? basically need organized room for a few things that won't fit in my pockets like a lock picking kit, my audio recorder, flash drives, personal protection, that kind of stuff.

@SrRochardBunson
YES YES YES

I've taken to keeping mine in my car, and calling it a #gethomebag. You never know what will happen, where you'll be, etc. If you're home and a tornado hits, it's an emergency kit. If you need to bug out, get home, etc.

I cannot say it enough times, this should be the minimum level of preparedness one is at. And be committed to keeping it stocked. There is nothing wrong with pulling a bandage out of it, as long as you replace what you use in a timely fashion.

Du bist sicher alles im #EDC, #Gethomebag, #Fluchtrucksack, #Notgepäck, #Bugoutbag oder #INCH zu haben? Hier mal ein paar Gegenstände die dir evtl. doch noch fehlen. 😉

This year my #prepping went all wobbly, I became poorly and just lost interest which was prob at a time when I needed it the most. I’ve sat today and gone through all my #EDC lists to make a start updating them all, and to create a #gethomebag for car and started looking at my preps again and to make sure I now have the right items as my previous preps mostly wont be any good due to development of IBD. Loved learning about this and re-learning

My last video seemed to be really popular on the reality of go-bags. A few viewers asked how to get started. Here's one of my earliest videos where I go over my wife's get home bag: youtu.be/QUk3CcD8bEs #thetechprepper #gethomebag #gobag #BePrepared #prepper
