An old door out of its frame and propped against the wall in an abandoned swimming pool building within the Chernobyl Exclusion Zone. The Russian word for 'changing room' or 'locker room' is painted in red on the front of the door.

Inmitten der Ruinen dieses verlassenen Dorfes Borgo Giuliano ragt die gespaltene Kirche empor, deren Mittelteil eingestürzt ist. Der Ort entstand in den 1940er-Jahren als faschistische Modellsiedlung. Neben der Kirche sind noch Überreste von Schule, Post und Carabinieri-Station erkennbar - alles für eine neue Generation von Landarbeitern geplant. Erdrutsche, Krieg und Abwanderung ließen das Experiment schnell scheitern.

Among American national parks, Death Valley is known for extensive and diverse evidence of human presence. There are traces of ancient people from the time of European immigrants and their descendants. More recently, members of the latter group came to this landscape as prospectors and miners. Note the covered staircase on the two story wood sided building. Somebody upstairs didn't want to break their neck descending the stairs is a snow storm. Or maybe somebody did break their neck, hence the added covering. 😬 Love the addition of a little window at the top of the staircase.
