It's late October, which means Hallowe'en #GroupSkate s (in costume) are on the menu. The big one is Empire's annual roll from Manhattan UWS to Sleepy Hollow and then to Tarrytown's annual Hallowe'en parade, this Saturday 10/25. Meet up is 8:45 am at Dante Park (Lincoln Center), and distance is 30 miles at a reasonable pace. There _should_ be a sag wagon, but check Empire's FB page for updates
Then next week is the season finale of the official #NYC Wednesday Night Skate. OMG.
We dropped by Union Square way late after #NYC WNS #GroupSkate finished, and only recognized a couple people amongst the skaters still about.
OTOH, our Strava feed is filling up with NYC skaters in Los Angeles for the Big Avocado Roll!
Kudos to Mario for once again figuring out how to skate 10 miles from LAX to wherever it is he's staying in Venice Beach.

Beautiful weekend to be #InlineSkating and seeing the sights in #NYC, although a bit windy Sunday afternoon. Empire's long-distance #GroupSkate Saturday apparently went well, and we enjoyed visiting a couple favorite spots in Brooklyn on Sunday.
Now everyone, cross your fingers and pray for improvement in the weather forecast for next Saturday morning. It's NYC 100k & Inline Marathon time in #Brooklyn #ProspectPark.
Coming up on the Empire calendar is a long-distance #GroupSkate Saturday morning and afternoon. It's the 6* Boroughs Skate, starting from Staten Island then rolling through Bergen County NJ before crossing the GWB back into Manhattan, then onto the Bronx, Queens and Brooklyn. A meal stop in the Bronx is expected. Meet up at the SI Ferry in Manhattan at 9:30 to ctach the 10:00 boat. Bring sandals or light shoes as you can't wear skates on the ferry.
Rolling into the late September / early October events, and it's two big inline races and two #groupSkate weekends.
This Saturday is the Northshore #inlineMarathon in Duluth, then in two weeks it's #Brooklyn's own New York 100k and NYC #SkateMarathon. Woot!
Same weekend as the 100k is Toronto's Rolling the 6ix, then the start of October the "West Coast BAR", i.e., LA's #BigAvocadoRoll (and it is big) closes out the year's group skate weekends.
TBH… We're looking at the Strava skater tracks that we follow, and we have no clue how the SkateDC #groupskate managed such a long route around DC without having to deal with the massive protest march.
It's the first of September and the start of meterological autumn, but the main part of the #InlineSkating season in #NYC still has a couple months to roll.
Coming up in a few weeks is the NYC Skate Marathon & 100k in #ProspectPark on Sep 27. Consider attending to cheer on the skaters even if you won't be rolling.
October ends with Empire's annual #GroupSkate to the Tarrytown Halloween festivities, as well as the grand finale of the official NYC Wednesday Night Skate.
The Boston Lahbstuh Roll is over, and OMG there's another Acela-reachable #GroupSkate event coming up in barely more than a week?
Yep, Skate DC starts the day after Labor Day.

It's peak #GroupSkate weekend time. Last weekend was Skate Chicago, and now we see the first activity from Boston's Lobster Roll in our Strava feed. Coming up soon are DC, LA, and Toronto!
Skaters looking for someone to roll with during #NYC Summer Streets on Saturday 8/16 will find a group meeting up at Union Square (the WNS meeting point) at 11:45 a.m. to skate up and down Manhattan.
Big Apple Roll is over, and by all accounts it was a great success. Weather only messed with the Thursday night skate, and was beautiful for the Friday, Saturday and Sunday skates. The crowd attending the Friday Night Skate may well have been the biggest #GroupSkate in #NYC since the MS Super Roll was held so very long ago, and after it was over a large chunk of skaters headed over to Pier 76.
Big big turnout for Empire's Big Apple Roll Friday Night Skate on 8/1, led by the incomparable Sarai. At least 600 participants that we were able to count, and we've read reports of 650 (at least 100 of whom were recording their activity on Strava, of course).
Big representation from Miami wearing matching garb, but we also saw club gear from Boston, DC. Houston, LA, Long Beach, and Portland (OR).
Looks like the Friday morning Big Apple Roll skate to Greenpoint went well.
The Thursday evening Big Apple Roll skate did happen. Streets dried out and the event start was delayed a bit. But skaters ended up getting wet due to showers that began during the return half of the tour from Midtown to Downtown and back.
After a big NYC Wednesday Night Skate, the 2025 Big Apple Roll #GroupSkate weekend officially kicked off this morning with a crowd of 100 or more skating from Times Square to Rockaway Beach.
Sadly not much time to enjoy the beach as storms rolled in. Although the rain should be over and one before the planned Thursday evening skate, streets look to be too wet and slick except for the adventurous. We'll see.
BAR week has begun, and some skatouristas were already in town Monday for the first of the pre-BAR weekly group skates. We bumped into a couple of them at Pier 76 after they'd rolled the NJ MNS earlier in the evening.
Big Apple Roll week is about to start. Weather forecast for events has kept changing, but it's beginning to look like we might lose a couple mid-week events to rain. But it currently looks good for Friday evening and Saturday.

In the meantime, #InlineSkating the West Side Bike Path a lot. Sigh, after sunset, the combination of bad (broken?) lighting with oncoming e-bike headlights is just… scream!
