#GrowFromSeed

Winter sowing did not really go so good. Huge plus for the low effort, but so far only 1/4 of the seeds have sprouted. There is a lot of algae though, so it resulted in something green at least...

Seed trays on the living room floor - this is only part of it.
Sowed annuals, biennials and perennials today. 320 seed tray cells in all. Seems a bit over the top as I only wanted to plug a few gaps in borders. Don't know how it happened.

My YouTube video on winter sown native plants that bloomed first year has gotten a thousand views, which is a lot for my little channel. Maybe people are already planning for the next round of growing flowers from seed.

I basically gave a shoutout to eight plants that flowered for me personally by the end of August. Have a look if you're wondering what seeds to sow.

All videos have closed captions.

Jalapeño jelly, just out of the water bath. #gardening #jalapeno #jelly #gyo #growfromseed

Several pint jars of still hot jalapeño jelly, green in color with flecks of white seeds and some red peppers to round out the flavor and colors.

Soaked a variety of hot chili seeds in the water today. Will be planting them tomorrow. Our gardening season is almost here—time to start seeds every week. Babies will stay in the shade on the patio because it’s too hot to be out in the direct sun yet. Too wet too.

@plants #SixOnSaturday from the #garden . This set of #flowers / #plants shows some of the #sweet #funny #circuitous ways #PlantCollectors operate: here's the funny one: top left native Allium cernuum (I also have pink) grown from seed of plants grown in France, from seed collected at Head-Smashed-In Buffalo Jump in Alberta..lol #florespondence #BloomScrolling #Alberta #Canada #July #NaturalGardening #GrowFromSeed #GardenFriends

Photo collage in six panels, framed in pink in centre, blending to greyed pale yellow-green top and bottom/
Top left: starry white, wild onion flowers. Right: part of a spike of deep pink fireweed flowers, partly lit from behind, against an area of shadow and dappled light the camera lens shows as many overlapping, variably bright circles of light.
Centre left: bright warm medium pink semidouble, irregularly shaped rose with 2 more behind partly open. RightTwo packed clusters of jovibarba flowers, pale yellow green and feathery looking, smallish tubular bell shaped, many not open yet..
Bottom left: several white flowers, few petals well separated, over capsules forming from spent flowers, blurry green background. Right: 2 stems topped with several pale pink flowers, like small hibiscus, most facing away from the camera.

Finally, the night temps look warm enough, so I transplanted peppers and cukes today into the crops garden. Also hilled the potatoes. Harvested crisps, Muir and Cherokee, collards, broccoli, peas, nabechan bunching onions. #gardening #gyo #growfood #growfromseed

On red towels are heads of green and red lettuces, collards, peas, couple of green onions and some small heads of broccoli.

Last *big* harvest of spinach.....they're all going to seed, and wow, oh wow, does one seed head produce an amazing cloud of pollen. Red and green crisps, as well as arugula will be very productive for a month or more. #gardening #vegetables #gyo #growfromseed

Another phase completed: all assembled and filled with soil. Another day or two and we'll probably start planting dahlias, zinnias and herbs will follow soon. Over at crops garden everything looks great. Turned in 6 bags of compost, buried a thermometer in hopes that we can go ahead and plant tomatoes. Again, a big harvest of spinaches, arugulas, and Cherokee Crisp (wonder why the name hasn't been changed). #gardening #gyo #growfromseed #flowers

An elevated 2x4 foot planter behind an on the ground raised bed of the same size, all surrounded by dirt in the middle of a ragged lawn that hopefully will have mini-clover this year.

Everything outside - finally the rain has stopped. Now we are waiting for soil and night temps to warm a bit, and for me to finish the new planters project. Running out of lighted space in the sprouts room. #gardening #gyo #growfromseed

Another major spinach harvest - it so loves this wet cool spring, but very glad that I planted it last Nov. Rest of the lettuces, arugulas and kales will soon reach critical mass: that point at which I can harvest to my hearts content to feed us and share with friends. #gardening #spinach #gyo #growfromseed

Took the scenic route to the crops garden. While weeding, I heard KaBOOM. 2nd time in a week, but neither time while on the road. Faulty tire. Harvested arugula and spinaches. #cycling #gardening #arugula #spinach #gyo #growfromseed #growfood

eBiked to the garden...pic is of kales. Planted 3 types beets (late on this), 4 types carrots, weeded, watered, harvested mounds of spinach. Stopped for a few errands on the way home. Such a pleasant way to get around. #ebike #gardening #gyo #growfromseed

4 rows of 2 different types of young kale.

Busy #sowing more #FoodPlant #seeds into small old pots.

Every year, I keep 1/3, sell 1/3 & give away 1/3 of all plant starters that I grow from seed. I have similar split method for plants that I end up propagating successfully.

Impressive progress with the mango seed since yesterday! I wish I’d set up a time-lapse now! #GrowYourOwn #GrowFromSeed #houseplant

88°F during golden hour at the crops garden. Here are softneck garlics in the foreground and hardnecks in the background. Didn't plant as many last fall as previous years so more room at the ends of the row for onions and arugula. #gardening #gyo #growfood #growfromseed

Green garlic sprouts in golden hour sunlight, maybe 6 inches high, above a bed of brown leaf mulch.
