Beginning to deal with my bean problem:
Seedlings are coming along nicely in my new diy grow tent set up. But…The yard/meter of snow covering the spot where the greenhouse is going to be is becoming a real problem.
Hold on little plants! Spring is coming!

I picked some green beans today. I will pick green beans tomorrow and/or the next day...
Early beans: Starting broad beans 🫘
These fast growing beans can be planted in the autumn to over-winter or in early spring (February/March) for a summer crop. They grow well in soil or in containers.

@feinschmeckergarten Hello to the very north of Germany. It appears the mushroom growing is going well. This is my backup account, unless the epicure.social account is fatally flawed. #growyourown

Indoor seed starting will begin for me next week with tomatoes & peppers in my seed starting trays beyond which I'll definitely begin putting in pepper plant orders next month, after the car is fixed..
then planting in about another 3 weeks outside with
1. Cabbage
2. Carrots
3. Kale
4. Peas
5. Beets
6. Cauliflower
7. Beans
No garden? No experience? No problem. An old bucket, a sprouting potato, and a sunny windowsill are all you need to start growing your own food. It's cheaper, easier, and more rewarding than you think.

The last of the pumpkins are starting to look rather sad. We brought them all up for processing and I just keep stopping to look at them. I find this to be such a satisfying view. Just a wooden crate sitting in my kitchen, full of our own harvest.
Vertical Gardening 🏡
In the urban city garden there is often no option but to use vertical space. Ground conditions in a city space often mean dampness and an increase in slugs and snails at ground level.

When I was young I didn't really like #BroadBeans they seemed to have a rather unpleasant aftertaste apart from their skins being tough. Now I #growmyown, Super Aquadulce and they are perfect - can't get enough of them. Is it me that's changed or did we grow awful varieties 40 years ago? #allotment #growyourown

Today's Flighty's plot blog post is At long last...
I have just realised that contrary to my belief I have NOT got all my tomato seed ordering sorted. Oops... I was supposed to get new Amish Paste seeds from Real Seeds. (Very 🤦🏻♂️ given I just put that massive Real Seeds order in last night.)
The other two gaps in my list are yellow and red cherries, I was not happy with last year's varieties (which were Real Seeds 'Primabella' (red) — too big; and Galina (yellow) — just didn't do well, few fruit.)
Unfortunately the 'Golden Crown' we got from Chiltern years ago is no longer available. That has been my favourite yellow cherry... will look for other options, I think this is also known as Goldkrone. And up for any suggestions on the red cherry tomatoes. What I like is small cherries (think 50p coin max size) and abundance of fruit.
As of today I have sown 76 one gallon milk jugs with seeds for this year’s garden. I believe I still have seven jugs to do.
