Apricot coloured #Doorsday

What fascinates me about this #door is not the fact that this #historic old town house in Lübeck dates back to 1530.

It is the simple elegance of the door, the white and subtle gold, paired with the unusual #apricot colour.
A bright colour that is cheerful and enchanting, putting you in a good mood and making you smile.

Entrance to a façade in light apricot. Four steps lead up to the door, flanked on the left and right by brass-coloured railings. Double-winged panel door in classicist style with white and gold frames, panels in the colour of ripe apricots. Above it is a three-part glass skylight and a white, modern lamp. An ensemble reflecting the proud and self-confident attitude of Lübeck's upper middle class at that time.

"I cannot imagine why, at this very early age, I cultivated a profound aversion to, and contempt for, Queen Victoria. Merely, perhaps, the clean and decent instinct of a child! I announced my intention of leading the forces of Patagonia against her." https://hermetic.com/crowley/confessions/chapter4

"Queen Victoria was dead! To the amazement of the worthy mayor, we broke into shouts of joy and an impromptu war dance." https://hermetic.com/crowley/confessions/chapter25

A traditional thatched-roof cottage behind the dike

A traditional thatched-roof cottage stands quietly behind the dike in Bremerhaven-Weddewarden. The steep reed roof is thick and weathered, covered with patches of green moss that blend into the surrounding winter landscape. The whitewashed walls are accented with blue window frames and trim, giving the house a distinctly North German coastal character. Bare tree branches frame the building, while neighboring houses appear in the background. The scene feels calm and rural, reflecting the timeless charm of a historic marshland settlement near the North Sea.

The ornate Saltwell Towers, a Victorian Mansion in Gateshead, NE England.
It was built between 1859 and 1871 as the centrepiece of the Saltwell Park estate and family home of the renowned stained-glass artist William Wailes, proprietor of one of England's largest and most prolific stained glass workshops.
Unfortunately, Wailes ran into debt and a few years he sold the property to the Gateshead Corporation.
The estate became a public space known as Saltwell Park which included the house, although Wailes was allowed to reside in his home until his death in 1881.
Saltwell Towers would later serve as a WWI hospital before becoming a local museum.
After 1968 it gradually fell into a ruinous state before a major restoration project, completed in 2005, returned the building to its Gothic Revival glory, where it is now Saltwell Park's visitor centre and cafe.
