My first weaving on my Schacht Flip Rigid Heddle loom. It was fun and it turned out okay with just a few mistakes. It is 42 inches (106.7 cm) long and 23 inches (58.4 cm) wide.

I made two of these tools used for tensioning loose threads when weaving. The top part is made from a wooden craft ball, spool, and toy wheel that I glued together and the walnut stained dowel, large washers, clip pin, and screw hook were purchased from a DIY store. I can add and remove washers as needed to add or lighten the weight.

I finally began weaving this plain weave cloth. It is part entry into weaving again and learning and maybe incorporating it into another piece of experimental art. We shall see. So far so good in spite of the lousy tension and several other mistakes in the prep. Learning from mistakes is what this is all about. The proof will be in the final washing and setting the weave.

Tyget vävdes som projektarbete mitt andra år på Sätergläntan och sömnaden påbörjades under kursen "Sy en folklig nyrokokoklänning" med Maja Satz, också på Gläntan. Och nu har jag äntligen en alldeles egen klänning! Lite småjusteringar med knäppningen ska göras och så behöver jag ju sy en stubb också- här har jag två kraftiga kjolar under istället. Tror bestämt jag behöver väva ett förkläde... Fler bilder lär komma, också från processen, men för nu vill jag bara få ut denna skapelse i världen, är så nöjd! 😁

Delighted to say that in the new Handwoven magazine due out in the next few days there is a design by Jeremy Uden using my Knockan laceweight yarn in colourway The Day Monet Visited the Dye Shed. Not on the cover, sadly, but Jeremy kindly sent me a photo of the scarf and it is really stunning. He is a talented weaver based in the UK.
