Ark in Space
Overall a great story, more ambitious than its budget allowed, packed with great sci-fi ideas, and of course one of the finest Tardis crews. If you only watch one Tom Baker story, this is a solid pick.
Not that anyone should watch only one Tom Baker, there’s a reason he got 7 seasons.

Harry is surprised the voice of the supreme leader was a women. Britain doesn’t get its first female prime minister for another 4 years. Not that Thatcher is a model of progressiveness. It won’t surprise me if America’s first female president is a fascist, assuming we get elections in 3 years.

Ark in Space part 2
It’s a shame that they didn’t follow the script writer’s intentions for a more diverse racial cast in the ark. Because the white leader’s references to genetic compatibility matches wasn’t intended to sound all white supremacy.
And of course they don’t trust the doctor so Noah is infected by the bubble wrap instead of letting the Doctor contain it.
Lots of good sci-fi.

Ark in Space Part 1
For being a low budget story with a last minute script, it does an excellent job building mystery and tension. SJS is unconscious for most of it, and while I normally hate that it does give Harry a chance to shine and get some great scenes with Baker. Which helps introduce him as a companion (I know he was in the last one, but here’s he’s learning about time travel.)
