I want you to hold the line regarding the need to make permanent the extended ACA subsidies that keep healthcare affordable for 24 million Americans. Please stand jointly with those Republicans who have seen how damaging the end of ACA subsidies will be so that America sees through the lies many members of this Republican Administration are spreading. Healthcare plan open season starts in November for the millions of small business owners and small farmers who rely on ACA plans, so this issue must remain a priority.
I also want you to reverse the funding cuts to the nutrition assistance programs that 44 million of Americans need to get enough to eat every month. No one in the United States deserves to be hungry, especially children.
I don’t want you to agree to any new budget that cuts nutrition assistance or healthcare.
This is not about politics; it is about people, and it is about what kind of country we choose to be.

Please support new proposed federal legislation, the Patients Over Profits Act (H.R. 5433/S. 2836), which would bar large insurers and their subsidiaries from owning clinics. When health insurance companies own the medical facilities, they are self dealing, they have a conflict of interest, and the best interests of the patient are not served.
Senator Merkley put it well when he said “Your doctor’s office should be in the business of making sure you get the best possible care, not functioning as a profit center for billionaire health care corporations."
The UnitedHealth insurance company employs or contracts with over 90,000 doctors, or about 10% of the US physician workforce. It also owns over 750 clinical subsidiaries nationwide. This consolidation has shifted the company’s profits and obscured transparency. We need to separate insurance companies from providers so that doctors can focus on treating patients, not on what makes the most money for the insurance company who owns their practice.
Please use the power of your office to support this bill. Get loud about it in your interviews, particularly with news outlets in Republican-leaning parts of the state. Make it clear why this bill is good for America, and then get it passed.

The only way to avoid these cuts, said the CBO, would be for #Congress to pass "subsequent legislation that would offset the deficit increase, waive the recordation of the bill's effects on the scorecard, or otherwise mitigate or eliminate the statutory requirements."
The #CBO said that these cuts could take as much as $45 billion out of #Medicare for fiscal year 2026. What's more, the amount cut from Medicare would increase in every subsequent year, resulting in total cuts of as much as $536 billion between 2026 and 2034.

PAYGO is not a term that crosses many lips in daily discourse. But it may soon be used more widely, as its impact resonates in the aftermath of the passage of the so-called One Big Beautiful Act. While the enormous and damaging cuts in #Medicaid have dominated discussion since the bill was enacted—cuts that will take millions of Americans off of #HealthInsurance, force the closure of many rural hospitals and nursing homes, and likely put enormous increased pressure on emergency rooms across the country—another shoe is soon to drop. And that is major cuts in its sister program, #Medicare.
