Tidal Ghost

I was out early on the beach in Gulfport, Mississippi, wrestling with the shifting light—sun and shade playing tug-of-war. Still, I managed to capture a few usable shots, including this image of a snowy egret (Egretta thula) wading through a tidal pool.

It froze this morning and windchill was still at freezing when we made it out to the lake. The sky was absolutely beautiful with streaks of contrail like an air show.
