I have a whole bunch of marine puns in a different language that I doubt more than 1 other person at work would understand.

In Taiwanese / Hokkien,

‘Hae’ means shrimp
‘Heh’ means fish

So since I was a child my cousins and I have always been saying shrimp shrimp shrimp or fish fish fish for ‘hehehehe’ laughing

It was meant to be

My #Taigi is of a mix of Chiang-chiu and Choan-chiu accents (see graph) so perhaps it gives me some sensitivity in the ear. There are a lot more dialects in #Hokkien not listed in this graph eg #Teochew is another major missing here too

@jkn I've always been under the impression (and noticed in my travels) that #Taiwanese #Hokkien is more widely used in the South, no? Or do you mean the dialect itself is unique compared to your Hokkien?

Dad's sister are all 阿姑, but use birth order to differentiate them as 大姑,二姑 the same goes with mum's sisters 阿姨
Tho we also use 嬸 for the wife of dad's younger brother, so 阿嬸. One thing is unique in Hokkien perhaps is the wife of dad's elder brother: 阿姆. Another is some Taiwanese will call mum 伊阿, 姨阿, 阿姨阿, 阿伊阿
