We've had several moderate snowfalls recently, with some warmth as well, making things a little messy at times (there are advantages to lower temperatures)- but also some nice #HolidayDecorations #ChristmasLights #TimeOfIce #Latvian #pagan #Alberta #photography

From a little distance, looking through a zoom lens (also cropped) at the centre part of a little thicket of leafless poplar saplings or suckers, with thin trunks and many branches and twigs going every direction. Some snow with a little rain and subsequent warmth has left the branches decorated with a host of bits and blobs of half/melted snow and ice. The sun is lighting this shiny ice from behind, and the camera lens has turned these half focussed light spots into circles and ovals of light. These lights vary from translucent bright rimmed to white, all set against dark branches and shadowed background. A white and blurred vignette has been applied to top and bottom edges, and a hint of violet tint across the middle.

A star made of fine wire in a twisty open pattern, decorated with tiny coloured glass ornaments around the edges. In the centre a gold wire broach in a two tier leafy rosette form with a centre flower of 6 pearls around a tiny crystal. The background is mostly dark with two silver tinsel garlands hanging down catching the light, one to each side behind the star, and with coloured lights and reflections on them. There are also a few coloured lights and small glass balls as well as gold ribbon below the star. A shaft of light hits the centre of the star. A filter has been applied to enhance colour intensity a bit and add a hint of violet, as well as white vignetting around the borders.
