This is a close-up of a section of gravel beach near our home. Most of the stones are blues and grays, but intermixed with that are small bits of driftwood and bark, creating a pattern that makes sense only to the ocean.

This is an image of the exposed granite shoreline. The rock has been scratched and rubbed and eroded and smoothed by millennia of tides and winds and ice and driftwood, revealing interesting pockets, striations of white against the gray, myriad shapes...can't get enough of it!

This is a 5-image HDR composite of the Ogden Point Cruise Ship Terminal at night, made from a spot on the rocks at Holland Point on the Dallas Road shoreline. There's one ship in port (Quantum of the Seas) - all lit up - with the reflections lighting up the water in front of it.

This is a merge of two 5-image HDR composites showing the full moon in the sky over the Juan de Fuca Strait. There are a few wispy clouds above the moon, and a lighted path in the water reaching across the strait from Port Angeles, WA in the background to Holland Point in Victoria at the bottom of the frame.

This is a close-up view of a witch hazel tree in Bastion Square. It's hard to describe, but the trunk and branches are quite twisted, hiding (or revealing) the dragon that lives within. In the background are a couple of buildings from the square but they only provide an out of focus backdrop

This image shows a driftwood dragon we met down on the shore at Holland Point. This dragon is curved around its tail, perched around a log with which it wanted to play fetch. Unfortunately, the log was too heavy for us to lift! In the background one can see the rocky shore and the waves coming in from the ocean.
