We installed a smart ceiling fan in the bedroom at the weekend.
The brand is “Reiga” but I think it’s just their name slapped on a mass-made fan, their website is a joke and the support email address doesn’t inspire confidence. 😅
It’s a six-speed fan but honestly I can’t imagine ever setting it above the first speed! 😳😅 Nice and quiet, really effective. The blades are plastic, painted to look like wood. I think it looks good.
It has a dimmable LED lamp, with warm and cool white settings. Super bright and doesn’t get as dim as I’d like, honestly. We have lamps around the room, I think we’ll probably use them more than the overhead light.
The smart stuff is Tuya-based, connected via WiFi. I chose that cos I already have some Tuya stuff so it was easy to add to their app and then #HomeAssistant.
I was using the “Local Tuya” custom integration (the official one uses the cloud - yuck) but it didn’t work properly, very slow to respond, couldn’t change the colour temperature. Luckily there’s also “Tuya Local” which worked perfectly (once I selected a suitable preset, none of the named fans matched).
Now I just need to setup the automations I need for the various controllers we have (IKEA buttons, smart light switch etc). I was planning to programme some speed controls but like I say, I don’t think we need them…
