The image is a poster with bold, contrasting colors and graphics that convey its message directly to the viewer. Dominated by shades of red, blue, black, white, and grey, it features a man standing beside a horse being fed water from a spigot he's turning on or off.

In stark relief against an orange background is text in large capital letters stating "A Turn of the Hand," which suggests a focus on manual labor and perhaps electrical energy. Below this headline, more specific information reveals that it’s related to the Rural Electrification Administration within the U.S. Department of Agriculture, hinting at agricultural electrification as part of rural development.

The man depicted is dressed in work attire, including overalls with suspenders and a protective cap, typical for someone engaged in manual labor or farming activities. The horse appears healthy and well-fed from what we can see; it's drinking water provided by the spigot turned on by the farmer.

Notably, there are no overt modern technology elements within this image that would date its origins beyond mid-20th century when such posters were popular for advocacy purposes related to government programs.

The image displays a vintage poster featuring an illustration of a man standing beside a horse, with the text "Things Look Better" prominently displayed in red. The background is split into two color blocks: yellow on the top and green at the bottom. There's also a graphic element resembling a hand pointing towards something or someone within the scene. At the bottom left corner, there are patches of various colors aligned to form a rainbow spectrum, known as KQHD2M Color Control Patches. The poster appears to be associated with the Rural Electrification Administration under the U.S. Department of Agriculture, likely from around 1938-1946 period based on its design and style.
The visual elements suggest that this image is a historical piece promoting rural electrification, potentially emphasizing improvements in agricultural life through access to electricity for farmers' use with their livestock or work purposes.

A man stands in a lush green field with horses walking by. He has his arms crossed and is wearing glasses, a grey blazer over a white shirt paired with dark pants. Behind him are large farm buildings on the left and right side of a wide open space; trees dotting the landscape under a blue sky with clouds. A man in casual clothing can be seen leading one horse from behind another as they walk past someone outside these buildings, likely tending to daily chores or care for the horses.

Sometimes, buying up large consignments of old photographs, you find interesting subjects which, sadly, you cannot use and which do not enter your collection. This is one, dated 1932, but without the photographer's name or studio, or a note whether it is a private image.

My collection revolves around the studios, rather than the subjects, and so this has to be discarded.
