Some call it “domestic violence.” But “domestic” is important only when it hurts men and the State--as in Domestic Terrorism.
Otherwise “domestic”--as in domestic violence--is not taken seriously. It is private, it is hidden, it happens in the realm of the home, that space cleaned and cared for by women, that space headed and ruled by men, that space where women are most endangered. Home is where the hurt is.
If terrorism means politically-motivated violence intended to scare us into changing the way we behave, then surely femicide is terrorism. Patriarchy is the ideology; cis men are the terrorists.

Human rights defenders are often targeted, which forces them to hide and reduce their movement or change their place of residence for fear of arrest or death. Youssef says many other women human rights defenders are subjected to bullying and smear campaigns on the Internet as a result of their demands to stop the war, while others have been killed. One of them is Bahjaa Abdelaa Abdelaa, who before her death, had been sent death threats for monitoring rape cases.

Screaming. Insubstantial. Hysterical. What men call banshees, women call prophecy. And of course if there are any sitting justices on the Roberts court whose entire jurisprudence can be reduced to a soggy skein of hurt feelings and self-pity, they are not females… But although Roberts cannot bring himself to even imagine the thing that actually happened in 2021, Sotomayor just can’t blind herself to it.

#HowTheLawFailsWomen: Britain pays Kenya about $400,000 a year to allow its soldiers to train… Allegations of rape and other crimes, including murder, by British soldiers deployed there date back to the 1950s… reference to hundreds of women from the mostly pastoralist Maasai and Samburu communities

Obstetrics harms: Around the world – from Ukraine to Sudan to Gaza – violence experienced by pregnant civilians, women giving birth, nursing women, and women struggling to survive in the period after childbirth remains entirely at the sidelines of global political conversations.

If it has become routine to ask “Who radicalized them?” about violent armed militants, be they Muslim or white supremacists, that question is even more imperative to ask of men who commit femicide. Because they are everywhere, in all our countries, in all our cultures.
We deserve to be free of the terrorism of cis men.

#StopInstallingKleptocratsForResourcesPredation:
“Corporations and states typically concentrate power among men during project negotiations, limiting women’s autonomy and normalizing their oppression.” When women then speak out against environmentally destructive projects or attempt to defend their communities from them, such action “defies gender expectations of docility (lack of retaliation) and sacrifice (absorption of extractive consequences).”

Women’s Health Month: Many white suffragists were unwilling to address the issues of racial inequality, and some even actively excluded Black women from their organizations. As a result, separate groups were formed, such as the National Association of Colored Women (NACW) and the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP), which advocated for both racial and gender equality.
This is especially ironic to reflect upon today, as many white women have critiqued spaces and groups designed for people of the global majority while forgetting that historically, it was they who segregated. We created separate spaces not out of hatred but out of necessity.

Aside from the most obvious effect of fetal personhood laws—banning abortion—and the recent court ruling making IVF unworkable in Alabama, these laws also assist prosecutors in criminalizing women for their conduct while pregnant. At its most expansive, fetal personhood applies all of the states’ laws to embryos and fetuses, including child welfare statutes.

“We have seen evidenced once more that women and children are the first victims of conflict and that our duty to seek peace is a duty to them. We are failing them. That failure, and the generational trauma inflicted on the Palestinian people over these 100 days and counting, will haunt all of us for generations to come”, highlighted UN Women Executive Director Sima Bahous in a statement released Jan. 18.
#Gaza is fundamentally a protection crisis for women. Out of the 1.9 million people displaced, close to one million are women and girls, seeking refuge in precarious sheltering conditions, yet nowhere and no one is safe in Gaza.

#ReformTheMedia: Awful clickbait article that never gets into the problem with domestic violence which is the failure of institutions to protect victims by offering them control over their lives. From the availability of affordable housing to barely enforceable restraining orders these cases point to social failure within the judiciary, law enforcement, advocacy, housing, child support services, gauch guaranteed basic incomes, etc.
