Anyone else having problems playing gifs on mobile/ pwa?

Specifically asking people from my instance and/ or Sharkey users.
I feel like this started with the migration from FF to Sharkey, but I‘m not sure.
Videos work fine. I love the player feature. It‘s only gifs that won‘t play.

If you have friends using firefish.social, it might be useful to suggest they try other servers too.

I'm genuinely worried that people judge the #firefish software based on their experience using the main server. Sadly, it can be unstable and slow; it is considered an 'Alpha' server for running the very latest code. For your average user it's not the best experience and they may not appreciate it is Alpha.

I am a huge Trekkie and Star Trek will be the thing I'll talk about a lot. But I have other interests as well, so I won't only be blabbering about Trek. 😅

I have imported my followed accounts and many of the ones who follow me too have already followed back, so I don't know if I actually have to do the official migrate action anymore. LOL

Does a migration overwrite any existing follows or only add to it? (Will have to research.)
I'm thinking about importing my posts, too. Has anyone done that before? I read that all replies will remain on the old server though. Does anyone have any experience with that?

We've upgraded the #search engine here on #iBe Social to give a better experience. Indexing of the 814,000+ posts currently held on the server is complete and being added to live. Let's see how good it proves to be.

A few simple search techniques:

pioneer -- a single word search looking for 'pioneer' in the text
mars rover -- looking for either of those words anywhere in the text
"mars rover" -- looking specifically for 'mars rover' together
from: @bumble -- show posts/replies from an account
to: @bumble -- find post to the account
#flowers -- shows posts with the hashtag

I'm not sure how to do AND searches yet!!

I will be monitoring the load on the server to check it does not overwhelm the user experience.

I'm still looking for examples of #bilinearpairings deployments. #IBE seems to be one of the things that relies on bilinear pairings, but IBE as such is quite abstract. and i have this unexplained aversion to pairings. like as soon as i read bilinear on eprint abstracts, i skip to the next abstract. and i would like to find out why pairings have that effect on me. and maybe i'm wrong, but i have this feeling that they are accepted by academics, but outside no one touches them. #crypto
