For any #icse2023 attendees/followers and enthusiasts about open science and academic reform: looking forward to presenting 'Treat societally impactful scientific insights as open-source software artifacts', a Software Engineering in Society position paper co-authored with my PhD Andrew Demetriou, this afternoon 15:52 h @ room 110. Promising to make it provocative 😇
Pre-print: https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.05669
Today, I presented @NorbertSiegmund and my work on socio-technical anti-patterns in building #ML-enabled software at #ICSE2023 If you missed it, come talk to me!

Just noticed a price drop on dsl.design book on #springer website. At least when I enter from Australia it shows EUR 15.88 instead of EUR 52.99. Just saying

ICSE 2023 Software Engineering Education & Training track: by my count, 110 authors with academic affiliations, 11 without (including 2 NA), and one paper from JetBrains research accounts for more than half of non-academic authors. https://conf.researchr.org/track/icse-2023/icse-2023-SEET?#program #ICSE2023
Sad to be missing #ICSE #ICSE2023 for the first time since 2013! To help my FOMO, everyone please focus your SM NOT on how much fun you're having, how beautiful Melbourne is, or how stimulating the scientific discussion, but rather on how jet lagged you are and how much you miss your children. Much obliged.
(My other problem is that the rest of the #ICSE2024 PC busily comments through my night and I wake up to 1000 HotCRP notifications to triage, but I can't think of a good solution...)
Where does friction and contradictions arise in #CivicTech projects? Our upcoming #ICSE software engineering in society paper on the topic is now available: https://arxiv.org/abs/2302.03469
In short: Volunteers can create change in their community or globally, but steering volunteer technology projects can be a challenge. In this case study, we set out to find out which kind of friction might occur during civic tech projects and in which project stages this might occur. #ICSE2023 @seresearchers
T-Shirts for #ICSE2023! I am hiring multiple Post-Docs in software testing and analysis who want to combine their independent research agenda with our #S3 techniques. Ask wearers (+ me) at #ICSE for details, and check out the S3 ERC project at https://cispa.de/s3
Amid all the chaos of being an international student---finally could come back home after four years to see some familiar happy faces😀, I'm excited to announce that our paper "COLUMBUS: Android App Testing Through Systematic Callback Exploration" got accepted to ICSE 2023.
I am grateful to my amazing co-authors @sherlock, Saastha Vasan, Sebastiano Mariani, Ilya Grishchenko, Andrea Continella, Antonio Bianchi, Christopher Kruegel, @zanardi for their invaluable contribution. The preprint will be released soon. #ICSE2023
We (Andreas Dann, Eric Bodden @guybrush and yt) had a paper accepted at #ICSE2023.
In "UPCY: Safely Updating Outdated Dependencies" we improve automated dependency upgrades for software systems by computing update suggestions with minimal incompatibilities. Preprint follows soon.
Better automation for software component dependency upgrade is essential for its adoption in software engineering and will help to make software component supply chains more reliable and secure. #log4j
📢 Calling all researchers and practitioners doing software engineering things with Internet-connected things!
I'm part of the organization of the #SERP4IoT workshop, part of #ICSE2023, and our CfP is open until January 13, 2023. Feel free to submit your works and reach me with any question!
The workshop will happen by 20th of May, and will be remote-friendly.

If you are willing to put your fuzzer to the test, the 16th Intl. Workshop on Search-Based and Fuzz Testing (https://sbft23.github.io/), co-located with the International Conference on Software Engineering will host a 🚨FUZZING COMPETITION🚨
If you would like to know how to participate, look at the instructions: https://sbft23.github.io/tools/fuzzing
If you are interested to contribute to the 16th Intl. Workshop on Search-Based and Fuzz Testing (https://sbft23.github.io/), co-located with the International Conference on Software Engineering, as for previous years, we will host a Cyber-physical systems (CPS) testing competition.
If you would like to know how to participate to it, look at the instructions:

With the 11th edition of The 16th Intl. Workshop on Search-Based and Fuzz Testing (https://sbft23.github.io/) Co-located with the International Conference on Software Engineering, the "Java Tool Competition" will evaluate tools considering the structural quantitative metrics used in the previous years + the level of understandability of generated test cases (NEW!)

@spanichella & @wunderalbert - This workshop sounds beyond awesome!😍 I hope this whole sub-event, or at least Albert’s keynote, is among the hybrid sessions at #ICSE2023. Since #DisabledDevelopers and #DisabledSTEMstudents are a target user group for #HeyGitHub & other voice-coding #AssistiveTechnology, this topic is especially important to us. And unfortunately our various forms of disability can make travel and in-person events challenging.
