#ISP wants to complain about me using residential Internet for "commercial purposes". Apparently hosting your own website is commercial now so they're redoing my Internet as business Internet. My #homelab network will be going offline from the 18th to the 23rd could possibly be offline longer If they have any issues. The good thing coming out of this is I'll have access to static IP addresses.

Scratch that I was able to reschedule it to today

@alexgreen @Timpostma

The only access I have to the WiFi router is that from an end user point of view.

I will first need to get command line access to it, or a Android tool, before I can change the TTL

I'm glad that there is a fix available.

The fact that you're able to use 25 GB instead of 5 GB by manipulating your TTL with one point is quite incredible!

Now some detailed questions how did you change the TTL? Which brand device are you using?
Is there a tool somewhere in the open source world where I can change the TTL of my Android WiFi device?

I've read your toot again
Your Franklin device is rooted and does have command Line Access

I have to note immediately that the 4G ISP in question, does not care that you hotspot your connection. I've hotspotted the phone in the afternoon to get the links browser for my live MX Linux distribution on an old notebook, without a boot device.

In fact I'm hot spotting the connection right now with two other devices

for some strange reason they just don't want the packets to get distributed through a mobile Wi-Fi router, and are preventing the device from even handshaking the SIM card in a usable modus

@Timpostma

I shall do the following. Get me some bandwidth 4G+ bandwith, from the other provider

Never ever get bandwith from this provider again when I want to use it on a mobile WiFi router

The reason for the stipulation is that their Network can reach 40 GB per second on 4G Plus. The second provider gives you more bandwidth but they don't reach those speeds at all

@Timpostma @Dendrobatus_Azureus @RadioAzureus

The most incredible thing is that when you put that same GSM SIM card twice in the same phone, the second time around the initialization takes less than two seconds.

less than two seconds!

It doesn't matter whether the phone is an Android or is simple yes no GSM.
This means that the server catches the initialization process. It also means that the denial of service is not a mistake

In all this time I've put another SIM in the mobile WiFi router and it still has not gone from limited service to full service

For me absolute proof of denial of service

The screencap shows a mobile device screen with a dark background and various icons and text. At the top, there is a status bar displaying the time "01:43," battery level "91%," and signal strength. Below the status bar, the header reads "muama RYOKO." The screen is divided into sections with icons and text. The first section shows a red "X" over a signal icon labeled "Limited Service," and a green battery icon labeled "91%." The second section has a globe icon labeled "Connection Settings" with "0 bps↓ 0 bps↑" below it. The third section features 9a speedometer icon labeled "Statistics" with "0MB Used/5GB Total" below it. The fourth section has a Wi-Fi icon labeled "Wi-Fi Settings" with "1 wireless device(s)" below it. The fifth section shows an envelope icon labeled "SMS" with "Total: 26" below it. The last section has a gear icon labeled "Other Settings" with "Password" below it. Each section has a right-pointing arrow indicating further options.

As I've said a couple of days ago, I do not intend to go back to the obsolete xDSL connections that my provider gives.

It is paradoxical, but the two 4G+ and 5G providers that the country has, give speeds which are up to par with what you can get in Europe most parts of Asia even in Russia.

I included the snapshot of the Simple GSM because Of The following,

It has come to my attention that my xDSL provider, which is also a 4G provider, suddenly needs about 60 to 90 seconds before they initialize is standard GSM Sim.

WTF? That takes as long to initialize their obsolete xDSL router and Gateway.

It is yesterday night at about 2200 hours that I found out why. They run and extensive script with you checks if your SIM is installed in a mobile WI-FI Gateway / router

When the script has determined that the SIM is not in a phone, it delays the authentication sequence of the SIM indefinitely.

You see the SIM card going from no access to limited access, and it stays there for more than 600 seconds! Then they fail the process!

This is a classic case of Denial Of Service.

I'm so glad that I only took 3 days I'll jump to the other provider again afterwards

The photograph shot in total absolute darkness, shows a close-up of a blue Nokia mobile phone. The phone's screen displays information about prepaid data and bonus seconds. The text on the screen reads: "SRD expires on 11/12/2025, Prepaid Data 4608 MB, Bonus Seconds 0 Seconds, **More." Below the text, there are two buttons labeled "Select" and "Back." The phone's keypad is visible, featuring the standard numeric layout with letters above the numbers, and additional function keys such as "Call," "End Call," and "Menu." The phone's screen is illuminated, and the background is dark, making the phone stand out. The phone is placed on a surface with a red and white object partially visible in the bottom right corner.

I've stopped working with obsolete xDSL network devices. I have an ISP Fiber who installed Fiber to the CURB and Fiber to the Home simultaneously just to make money. They installed the obsolete fiber to the curb systems to milk people into making them think that xDSL is a way for the future.

Meanwhile on quite stable 4G Networks they give the speeds that you see in the screenshot. I can reach more than 40 MBit per second! I would rather be ad hoc on the internet, then have a slow obsolete 10 MBit connection over two copper wires.

I am finally enjoying the internet again when it comes down to speed

Below, the network name "74603 FDD_LTE" is displayed. The "Connection Settings" section shows a download speed of 31.47 Mbps and an upload speed of 300.63 Kbps. The "Statistics" section indicates 1.44 GB used out of a total of 5 GB. The "Wi-Fi Settings" section shows that there are 4 wireless devices connected. The "SMS" section shows a total of 34 messages.
