#fossilfriday bones here an #Ichthyosaur show the majority of the animals pectoral girdle.Boxed individually, with a label that read the same. "from the Oxford Clay, Peterborough, Whittlsey, Kings Dyke."going by the labels we would assume the Ichthyosaur is Ophthalmosaurus.We will probably never know if they are associated as there was no further written info with them.They match in size, preservation and fit together so could well be. They would look great displayed together that's for sure.

Palaeontologists Darren Withers @outfossiling (left) and Richard Forrest @richardforrest (right) visited us to see the ichthyosaur they donated now on display, and also to present some more bits of it to the museum! Bones from the skeleton continue to be discovered from the dig site. We'll add these to the display soon!

Here's my 2021 press release painting of the Rutland Sea Dragon, a huge 10m long Temnodontosaurus. Amusingly, a BBC news article called it the "Sea Dragon Dinosaur Dolphin," or something like that.

For #FossilFriday, Pervushovisaurus campylodon leaps from the water to snag a flock of hatchling Cimoliopterus. Both toothed pterosaurs and ichthyosaurs went extinct during the Cenomanian-Turonian Boundary Event (c. 94 million years ago), a Late Cretaceous extinction pulse that coincided with major shakeups in marine and (to a lesser extent) terrestrial biotas.
