The Power of the True Love Knot is an album by Shirley Collins.

The theme of this collection of songs is "the idea of true love as a power outside society's control", as Shirley writes on the liner notes. If the first track sounds slightly like "Eleanor Rigby", this is because Bram Taylor plays cello on both of them. Two other guests are Mike Heron and Robin Williamson from The Incredible String Band. The relationship bore fruit on Shirley's next album. Anthems in Eden (1969) contains "God Dog", a song written by Robin Williamson.

The title of this album comes from the song "Lady Margaret and Sweet William". On this song, Shirley accompanies herself on 5-string dulcimer, adapted to have a banjo neck, an instrument she only ever used on this album... - Wikipedia

A very tall, slender deciduous tree with branches that start very high up. Its shape and the uneven dappling of evening sunlight on its bark make its trunk appear to undulate and its arms to wave, like an "air dancer" gone feral.

The low January sun, seen as a ball of orange fire through the green-black ranks of tall thin trees. The brown carpet of leaves glows amber with its light.

A section of dead tree surging out of the leaf mould. No, the shape it makes does not remind me of a demon emerging from the soil with outspread leathery wings, and a bowed, moss-spattered horned head more caprine than human. Its just a bit of tree, and they cant uproot themselves with a creaking groan and rustle over the leaves towards you, still less take flight and hover over your head in a shower of twigs and startled birds.

I told myself that all the way home.

A view from the woods edge, looking over the frosty heath towards a line of bare trees, black against a sweep of hills flaming in the early sunset. The blue sky above the trees upper branches looks especially cool by comparison.

I have also gone on a rollercoaster journey from having no interest in the #IncredibleStringBand to thinking they sound like the most amazing thing ever to being sad about Licorice McKechnie's disappearance in the space of a day or two.

From reading #ElectricEden I have gone from having almost no awareness of the #IncredibleStringBand to being kind of fascinated by them. I hope this fascination survives exposure to their music.
