Bank of America, BNY Sued Over Jeffrey Epstein Ties
> New lawsuits against Bank of America and Bank of New York Mellon over their ties to Jeffrey Epstein accuse the banks of maintaining relationships with the convicted sex offender and failing to report suspicious activities until after his 2019 death.
> The two class-action lawsuits were filed in federal court on Wednesday on behalf of a Jane Doe and other women who have accused Epstein of abuse. They allege that Epstein’s trafficking operation wouldn’t have existed without the banks that provided special treatment to Epstein and his co-conspirators. The suits seek unspecified financial damages.
> Spokesmen for Bank of America and BNY had no immediate comment.
> The Jane Doe plaintiff in the Bank of America suit is a woman who said she was abused by Epstein from 2011 until 2019. The suit claims that she opened an account at Bank of America in May 2013 at the direction of Epstein’s accountant and that he transferred about $14,000 into the account. Epstein and his accountant continued to use accounts set up for the woman at the bank for years, including one until 2019, the suit says.
> The suit against #BNY claims that since at least 2006 the bank had a relationship with MC2, a modeling agency that Epstein and modeling agent Jean-Luc Brunel created. The suit claims that the men used funds from the bank to facilitate Epstein’s sex trafficking. Brunel, who was arrested in 2020 on sex-trafficking charges, died in jail in 2022.
> The suits were brought by lawyers, including Brad Edwards and David Boies, who have represented many of Epstein’s victims and previously filed similar class actions against #JPMorgan and #DeutscheBank in 2022.
