Just spent 10 minutes trying to remember this guy's name.
"This guy" being Jake Xerxes Fussell, one of the most interesting musicians in the folk-ish/Americana-ish/fingerpicking space. I've been a fan for a while now! Amazing how your brain can just go black like that.
Lots of trad tunes but done in a very thoughtful, subtle, inimitable way. If you like Sam Amidon and you don't know Fussell, check him out for sure.
This whole album is exceptional and perfect for a Sunday night.

@uncutmagazine@twitter.com introduced me to #JakeXerxesFussell through a very positive review of his 2022 album "Good And Green Again". I've bought all of his albums in the meantime and am #NowPlaying / #NowSpinning his 2019 album "Out Of Sight".
I think I wrote that already on occasion of his lastest album: His way of searching for and interpreting unknown folk songs reminds me a lot of Ry Cooder's first three records from early 70s.
