In a #StateOfTheUnion message given on #ThisDayInHistory in 1823, Pres. #JamesMonroe unveiled the key parts of the #MonroeDoctrine, namely, that USA would stay out of European conflicts and European powers had to stay out of the Western Hemisphere (it was America's playground).
