#ScribesAndMakers Day 20: What fictional character do you most closely identify with and why?
I seldom identify with single characters because my interest is mostly in their interactions and relationships. I find parts of myself in a lot of characters, but not all in a single character and it's their gestalt that resonates when a story works for me.
I do remember a friend saying in middle school that I reminded her of #JaneEyre, which I found flattering because I loved the novel. It's felt all the more resonant as an adult since I read discussions of Jane as a neurodivergent character and I came to realize why I came across that way to others--literal and truthful to the point of discomfort, empathetic and helpful with the social grace of an elephant in a porcelain shop.
