New #review today: "A brief recap: #JeanPierreLlabador and his brother Jean-Claude were founding members of the French jazz-rock band Coïncidence. Jean-Pierre went forward on his own, releasing around a dozen albums beginning in 1984, and a number of those are in the instrumental #JazzGuitar vein; The Jazzy Years is a two-disc compilation of cuts culled from a number of those recordings." #ExposeOnline #jazz expose.org/index.php/articles/

Bright Size Life is the debut album by Pat Metheny, recorded in December 1975 and released on ECM March the following year. The trio features rhythm section Jaco Pastorius and Bob Moses.

Tyran Grillo wrote for ECM Reviews:

The tunes on Bright Size Life, Pat Metheny’s first studio album as frontman, tell a story that begins at the outskirts of Jim Hall, traverses the vast plains of the American Midwest, and ends smack dab in the middle of Ornette Coleman. From the moment fingers hit strings, we are launched into the luscious warmth that would come to characterize an ECM era. Flanked by the late Jaco Pastorius on bass and a cymbal-happy Bob Moses on drums, Metheny carries the brunt of the record’s melodic thrust. Positively overflowing with gorgeous circuitousness, organic inversions, and unwavering execution...

Our Time by Kiyoshi Sugimoto , released by Columbia in Japan as part of their Creative Sounds Series in 1975.

Funky guitar from Kiyoshi Sugimoto -- a Japanese player who really hits his groove on this rare album from the 70s! The set's got a perfect balance between some of the earlier Japanese guitar modes, which were often a bit more jamming -- and some of the smoother styles of the late 70s -- particularly those Japanese fusion albums that hit bigger on the global scale. Things here are still nice and open -- almost spacey at points, but still tight enough to be funky -- and Sugimoto himself handled most of the arrangements, which really work well for his long, stretched-out guitar lines. Titles include "Quiet Pulse", "Marmalade Sky", "Our Time", and "Jones Street". - Dusty Groove.

Purtroppo la carriera di Charlie Christian non è durata a lungo, morì ancora giovane di tubercolosi. Malgrado ciò, è stato uno dei più grandi chitarristi nella storia del jazz. Ho trascritto e analizzato un suo assolo.

Stop and Listen is the second album by American jazz organist Baby Face Willette featuring performances recorded and released on the Blue Note label in 1961. It features a version of the 1941 Harry Warren song "At Last," which at the time of the Stop and Listen recording sessions was on the R&B and Billboard Hot 100 record charts through Etta James' hit recording of the song.

The Allmusic review by Steve Huey awarded the album 4½ stars and stated "With Blue Note's extraordinary stable of talent, it's a shame that Willette never led another session for the label, which makes Stop and Listen that much more essential for soul-jazz fans - Wikipedia

Goodnight, It's Time to Go is the fourth album by organist Jack McDuff recorded in 1961 and released on the Prestige label.

Scott Yanow of Allmusic states, "This 1961 date was organist Jack McDuff's first with his regular working band. That group included two players who would become synonymous with the organ combo, soul-jazz sound: tenor saxophonist Harold Vick and the up-and-coming guitarist Grant Green" - Wikipedia

This Is Howard Roberts Color Him Funky by The Howard Roberts Quartet, released on Capitol in 1963.

Howard Mancel Roberts (October 2, 1929 – June 28, 1992) was an American jazz guitarist, educator, and session musician...

In 1963, Roberts recorded Color Him Funky and H.R. Is a Dirty Guitar Player, his first two albums after signing with Capitol. Produced by Marshall, they both feature the same quartet with Roberts (guitar), Chuck Berghofer (bass), Earl Palmer (drums) and Paul Bryant alternating with Burkley Kendrix on organ. According to Jim Carlton writing for Vintage Guitar magazine these first two albums created a fan base that was not equaled by any other jazz guitarist at that time. After that, Roberts was referred to as simply H.R. and his albums were among the most anticipated jazz releases of the day... - Wikipedia

Marx Makes Broadway by Dick Marx, released on Omega Disk in 1958.

In recent years, a young Chicago pianist —without ever leaving his native city— has become a subject for musicians’ backstage conversation from coast-to-coast.
His name is Dick Marx and "you ought to hear Dick" is almost a cliche now. But Marx cannot be enjoined to go out on a road trip. It was an unusual thing for him to accept Omega’s invitation to come to Los Angeles and make this stereo recording...
...On this date Dick’s friends are Buddy Collette, flute; Carson Smith, bass; Frankie Capp, drums; and Irving Ashby, guitar. On the five numbers you'll hear Red Mitchell on bass, and on three Howard Roberts replaces Ashby on guitar. *Ralph J. Gleason (liner notes)

Red Norvo With Strings by Red Norvo, released on Fantasy in 1956.

Robert Pincus wrote for Positive Feedback

"...The title is a parody, because Norvo's "strings" are guitarist Tal Farlow (1921-1998) and bassist Red Mitchel (1927-1992). The album was recorded in October of 1955 at the legendary Radio Recorders in Los Angeles. Norvo's sound is different from fantasy's big star, Cal Tjader, but just as engaging. Norvo's vibes tend to sound light and bubbly compared with Tjader's cool and creamy sound..."
