Not a big fan of County Music as a genre, but Listening to my music collection (including that of my parents), I had forgotten how much fun #JerryReed ‘s music can be. You may remember him from the movie Smokey and the Bandit.

Famous Amos Moses
#JerryReed
All that #AlligatorAlcatraz can wait for now is another Amos Moses.
Now Amos Moses was a Cajun
He lived by himself in the swamp
He hunted alligator for a living
He'd just knock them in the head with a stump
The Louisiana law gonna get you, Amos
It ain't legal hunting alligator down in the swamp, boy
Now everyone blamed his old man
For making him mean as a snake
When Amos Moses was a boy
His daddy would use him for alligator bait
Tie a rope around his waist and throw him in the swamp
Alligator bait in the Louisiana bayou...
...Now the folks from down south Louisiana
Said Amos was a hell of a man
He could trap the biggest, the meanest alligator
And he'd just use one hand
That's all he got left 'cause an alligator bit it
Left arm gone clear up to the elbow
Well the sheriff caught wind that Amos
Was in the swamp trapping alligator skin
So he snuck in the swamp to gon' and get the boy
But he never come out again
Well, I wonder where the Louisiana sheriff went to
Well, you can sure get lost in the Louisiana bayou

JERRY REED
The Uptown Poker Club
1973 Canada pressing
Those who have followed me a while know how I feel about Jerry Reed. He is without a doubt MY favorite country artist ever.
I first knew Jerry Reed as an actor, as the heavy in one of my most beloved movies, The Survivors, with Robin Williams and Walter Matthau. He was GREAT in that, and I learned shortly after first seeing it that he was one hell of a singer/songwriter.
I don’t have a favorite Jerry album. I love them all. I can listen to ANY of them, any time, any place.
“You’ve Got It” is the gem here, as well as the Shel Silverstein-penned “Travellin’ Music”.
A great, humorous album with KILLER guitar playing.

Well I had just got out from the county prison
Doin' ninety days for non-support
Tried to find me an executive position
But no matter how smooth I talked
They wouldn't listen to the fact that I was a genius
The man said we got all that we can use
Now I got them steadily depressin' low down mind messin'
Workin' on the night shift blues.
I just find it wild how the club became the #PunkRock mecca.
With the name #CBGB, it sounded like they wanted to open a #Honytonk.
I would have expected such a place to want #JerryReed or #JohnnyCash, not #JoeyRamone or #PattySmyth.
