How Roman Griffin Davis didn't win anything for his portrayal of JoJo Rabbit is beyond me. Just rewatched it and it was just so good.

I just watched a trailer for the movie, Jo Jo Rabbit, on Hulu and I said out loud to myself, "That looks fucking stupid."

When I read about it before it was released, it sounded ridiculous. This was after I had seen Inglorious Basterds, which I hate, despite Christoph Waltz's brilliant performance.

Trying to make a comedy about the Nazis just ain't it for me.

And Taika Waititi's comedy has proven to be mostly too broad for my taste.

This reminds me of why I didn't like Jojo Rabbit.

Not because it makes light of the horror of historical Nazis. As I keep saying, mockery is infinitely more effective at defeating fascists than punching them. A self-defeating tactic that feeds the cult of victimhood at the core of fascist group psychology, and corrodes public support for anti-fascists.

No, I wasn't impressed by Jojo Rabbit because it was lazy caricature, not effective satire.
